IN BRIEF

The Facts:
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified Wednesday that the Department of Homeland Security is creating a "Disinformation Governance Board" to combat misinformation.
Efforts to control information are at an all time high, and are being done under the guise of "protecting democracy."
Reflect On:
Are we seeing a continual take over of the information landscape?
Who will decide what is misinformation?
What are we to do about what is considered misinformation today but is no longer misinformation months later? Do the punished voices get apologies or their lost revenue back?

In February the US Department of Homeland Security stated that sharing “misinformation” online may be considered domestic terrorism. The latest news with regards to Homeland Security’s efforts came from their Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. He testified Wednesday that the Department of Homeland Security has created a “Disinformation Governance Board” to combat misinformation ahead of the 2022 midterms, but the effort has long been underway.

Mayorkas said the Disinformation Governance Board will be led by Undersecretary for Policy Rob Silver, and co-chaired with principal deputy general counsel Jennifer Gaskill. The board will be headed by executive director Nina Jankowicz.

News of the Disinformation Governance Board comes two days after Tesla CEO Elon Musk secured a $44 billion deal to buy Twitter, a move that seemingly caused panic among many who fear more free speech on Twitter may be a bad thing. We go into a deeper discussion about that here if you’re interested.

According to Mayorkas, the department of Homeland Security claims they are seeing a growing connection between disinformation and the alleged ongoing threat posed by domestic extremism...

This isn’t scary at all… Ninja

Move along, folks.... nothing to see here. Just an isolated incident.
The hell? A four year old knows as much about racism as they know about gender and sex.
A rational person would consider this grooming.
Twitter should be politically neutral - which means upsetting the far right and far left equally.

- Elon Musk.
Can't argue with that. I just hope they clean house of accounts that promote kiddie porn, sex trafficking, terrorism, etc.

The Taliban should not be allowed on any platform. Period. The same with ISIS, al Qaeda and any other known terrorist group. They are a greater threat to humanity than Trump ever was or will be yet he is banned and they can stay. Total and utter bull feces.

Always thought it was messed up that Trump gets banned but when Muslim extremists said KILL ALL JEWS they didn't get the ban hammer.
No one got a chuckle from the Musk tiger tweet?

Buncha squares.

I thought it was hysterical! Maybe they didn’t click on it to see the full pic.
I didn't click on it, so just figured it was some pop culture reference I didn't get.

Ok. I get it now.
Elon is awesome.. Duder will save the country..
I’ve been waiting for this shoe to drop.

Eventually some lefties were going to make a public stink and attempt to make it sound as if they represent rank and file. Funny how they didn’t have a problem with Musk until they discovered he wasn’t a card carrying leftist.

Musk is a complicated guy.
He also offered to pay for employees in abortion restricting states to travel to states with fewer restrictions.
If I was him I would simply reply to each petitioner with a form letter that doesn't even acknowledge what they said.
I can tell you from the days I used to write letters to politicians that few things chap the [BLEEP] more than to know that the guy saw your letter but he didn't read it.

I don’t see him as complicated at all. He’s a liberal in the classic sense who is a left-leaning centrist. The purple-haired lefties are livid because he acknowledges the right to free speech and has called out the democrat party for the hateful extremists they’ve become. Now their heads are exploding and they are attempting to cancel or bring him to heel. It’s just that simple.

Yep he is moving to the right on non-social issues. On social issues he is taking a view of let the states decide even though he may or may not agree with their viewpoint.

Good.. There should be consequences, even for words.
