I was being sarcastic.
Quote:I won't do all the research as to how many times Gus has spoken to this. It's all out there. Again, if you believe that the players need to be told winning is the goal and losing is not acceptable then you must also believe that Caldwell has failed? You must also believe that these guys made it to the highest level of the game without the core driving force of competition? OK then.

They do need to be told that winning is the goal.  This "let's improve every day" sunshine and rainbows crap is just making them soft.  The players have been indoctrinated with this nonsense where it really doesn't matter if we win or not and all that matters is the process.  That's coaching.  It's also on the GM to see this happening and do something about it.  If Caldwell still believes in Bradley, then his thought process needs to be questioned too.

Even my 5 year old son knows that winning is the only thing that matters.

Somebody seriously needs to come in, kick [BLEEP], and take names.  These are grown freaking men acting like a bunch of sissies.  Oh, we're grinding, it's so hard, winning isn't the most important thing.  Sounds like a youth soccer team mentality.

The thing that angers me the most about it is this:  Fans that are far less wealthy than him are criticizing the team for not winning because they are spending their hard earned money on a crap product that they care more about results than the team.  He takes exception to that and says this nonsense that we can't talk about that when we're not "grinding" with them.  Must be a tough grind to make millions of dollars to continue to underperform at my job.  Gee, don't know how I could get through the day.

Man, I'm fired up.  Not sure why this is striking such a cord with me, but this must have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

Meh, just a comment by a bad tight end. So what.

I can't help you if you've already accepted the team's losing mentality.

To answer your question.  It's a big freaking deal to hear this from a team CAPTAIN.  He should be the leadership in the locker room.

I don't need help thank you. I can help you though. Get a clue that your internet rambling accomplishes squat and you won't be so "Fired Up".

It's a message board.  Want to talk about the weather?

Everyone knows 6:50 AM is the proper posting time.   Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.  Benjamin Franklin

Really, I think we're reading way too much into what he said.   He's at least as frustrated as we are, so he lashed out in frustration, and probably misspoke.  I seriously doubt any of these players thinks winning is not important.

Benjamin Franklin? Pffft, dude didn't even have a cell phone.

I used to be an optimistic apologist (I really did), but years of utter incompetence have slowly eroded me down into this angry ogre that sits before his keyboard today.  I used to apologize for Gene Smith and even tried to justify his pick of Bryan Anger.  Slowly, over time, I've just given up on optimism and gone to realism.

If he's frustrated too, it might be a good idea to say something along the lines of "It sucks to lose.  I know it's hard to see, but the process is working, and we really are on the right path."  Instead we get the mumbo jumbo criticizing the fans for only caring about winning.  If winning isn't your only goal, there's something wrong with you.  You should be doing NOTHING if it doesn't contribute to winning.  I mean NOTHING.  Your goal can't be "improving every day" or "making progress" or "following the process".  Those are all things you can do to help towards your goal of winning.

Whatever dude, I'm not a therapist.

Calling Lewis a sissy yet you are letting someone you do not know get you hot and bothered because he said something about fans...

Anyways, it's a stupid thing to say, but we already know that. Ultimately they need to focus on their play and worry about what they can control and stop talking to the media about fans.
Quote:Usually I'm on board with you FBT but these comments are ridiculous. This fan base has more than supported this team, myself included. That stadium could have been much more empty with the product being put on this field the last 3 seasons. This has been a historically bad team yet the fans keep coming and filling the seats. His comments were off base and as a fan since the beginning I am offended as a season ticket holder.
Whether his comments were off base or not is irrelevant.  I said earlier in this thread that I thought he was an idiot for what he said.  I'm not sure how my comments are ridiculous here when all I'm saying is that he's certainly entitled to have an opinion, and if asked for it, he's got every right to express it to someone.  If you're offended by his comments, so be it.  I've been there from the beginning as well, and I didn't take his comments personally.  Clearly you did.

Reading too much into what a player, coach, staffer, or owner says.  That NEVER happens around here.

Agreed that it's pretty unlikely any player on this roster or any other doesn't think winning is important.  Winning is validation that the process is working.  Losing is cause for frustration when you believe in the process.  What Lewis said is nothing more than him venting his frustration.  People taking it personally is pure comedy.

For any and all who are knocking on Marcedes Lewis' tweet I have nothing else to say to you other than...

1. You know and accept the risks of purchasing tickets, merchandise, or memorabilia, so stop complaining when the wins don't add up or equal to $$$ amount you feel you've contributed to the cause.

2. Winning ain't easy, and becoming a winner isn't easy.  As you can see through the multiple head coaches and busted draft picks, drafting talent and talent scouting is more times miss than hit.

3. Keep standing behind the team like you always have, there's nothing more you can do. I've been a fan like most of you since I was a young child.  I've had my fair share of disappointments.  I own several jersey's of players that are no longer in the league.

I'M STILL HERE!

I'm not just a "fan" of the Jaguars, I'm a supporter.  If your child played sports and wasn't good at all, would you show up and watch the games even if his team wasn't winning games?  Even if that meant wasting the gas to drive him out there to let you down?

Lewis is entitled to say his piece as much as any of the trollsters on this board.

The fans think Lewis is garbage. Lewis thinks the fans should shut up about things they really don't understand.

I think everyone is right Smile

I thought you were wise enough to stay away from the madness lol
