The Panther's are up 42 - 0 with 49 seconds left in the 4th quarter.  After a botched handoff Alualu recovers the fumble runs for a 72 yard touchdown.  Myers misses the extra point.  Final score is 42-6 and Carolina fans are furious.  Cam Newton is seen crying in the locker room saying over and over "I can't believe we got scored on by the Jaguars".  Fans threaten to burn their season tickets.  The next day Rivera is fired.
I hate to predict a jags loss but i think the panthers will win 26-23.
I was checking out the Panthers forum, and they don't seem worried. Most of them see the Panthers winning pretty big

of coarse they're not worried about us.

all they see is last year's record.

all of us jags fans see last year too...but we're in touch with our teams changes and have (dare I say) hope?

Is it hope or desperation?

Jags 28 panthers 24..

400 total yards on offense..

Bortles has 300 yards 3 TD..

Yeldon 100 yards rushing 1 TD..

Robinson hurns both 100 yards 1 TD each..

Lewis Greene 50 yards each lewis 1 TD..

But the problem is our defense might not be that great..

So jags win a close one.. We are one we are strong we are jaguars..
Over four seasons, Newton has gained 2,571 rushing yards. The dual-threat weapon offers a rare ability to exploit both pass and run defense

The Jaguars are good at stopping the run, so they need to force Cam Newton to win soley by using his arm & not his legs.

Yes I agree.. We stop cam from running.. Force him to pass.. We should win this game.. The thing that worries me is our defense is not good at all.. If we stop can we win.. Our offense is good enough to put up points.. Its the defense that keep us from keeping the lead in a game.. Or even winning a game.. Like I said were gonna go 8-8 or 9-7.. Our defense comes next year.. Especially with fowler coming back.. Mark my words 8-8 9-7..

I think this game won't be all that close. Defense gets after Newton after not showing up during pre-season action. They force some turnovers and by half time we're winning 21 to 3. We get some 2nd half FG's to put it away a bit after running the clock down and Newton has some scoring drivers of his own early in the 4th quarter when our defense is a bit more relaxed.

I'm amazed at the 27 points prediction. You have eclipsed 25 since December or 2013, now you're a juggernaut?

Yeldon had 10 yards on 8 carries. 1.1 ypc?

Yea that's crazy right?

About as crazy as claiming Cam is a top 10 QB and you would take him over Flacco....

Of course people are going to make those predictions. Their pumped for the season. Your board is no different. You were below .500 last year and yet your board seems SB ready.
I expect wins: 27-14 Jags

Heaven forbid some fans are optimistic about their crappy team at the beginning of the season. I'm sure you thought you would come here and insult our team and we would all agree and bow down to the juggernaut Panthers and Cam Newton's greatness.

Fact is, most of us here realize we are a bottom team. We probably won't win many games, but compared to the actual good teams on our schedule, the Carolina game is our most winnable early on.

Hence my desperation comment above. The Jaguars simply have to win this home game.

20 - 17 Panthers

The Panthers have the makings of another top 5 defense and look to be starting fast rather than slow this season. A 2nd year QB putting 17 up on them and keeping the game close will be a positive sign, even if there isn't a W coming with it. The front 7 will stifle Yeldon and force Bortles to beat him with his arm which will allow the DL to pin their ears back.

The Panthers offense is the polar opposite of their defense. Slow start, horrible play calling by Shula, horrible play design by Shula, and it'll come down to whether the Panthers can run the ball or not. I see Jacksonville up 10-3 at the half with the Panthers defense taking the game into their hands rather than leaving it in the offense's.

Granted the Panthers have a couple of the best LBs in the game, but top 5 defense is a stretch. Regardless, I'm liking what I see out of this offense provided Joekel comes through for the team. What gives me so much faith is watching the genius Oley at work. I don't know what happened in Oakland last year that his offense stunk so bad, but watching this offense move the ball and convert third down after third down gets my juices boiling. Oley is the best pure play caller I've seen in Jacksonville in a long, long time, and he can improvise on the fly. The Jaguars have the ability to sustain drives and control the clock. The only real question is, can they finish drives with TDs instead of FGs?

It's crazy to think that a week one game is so significant, but I agree with you. This is a must win for Gus and the team.

We are underdogs at home for a reason. But this game is winnable. If our defense can stop the run, I think we have a chance...

for me it's hope
