Loved Scobee, but I think the time was right to move on...

I hope the best for him.
I told my Steeler fan homie weeks ago (when Squeeze'm went down) about our kicker situation and that the two teams could probably work something out with either Myers or Scobee. Glad we kept the young guy. He will be kicking alot of game winners.
Quote:Another pre-Caldwell player gone. With Branch on the bubble we could be down to just Poz, Lewis and Alualu soon (I might be missing someone).

I'm gonna miss Josh, I've been following the Jags (and NFL) since around later 2007 so he's always been part of the team for me.

You are missing the most important one. Anger.
Quote:I can see wolf PMing FBT to get his reaction to the trade even though he posted it in the thread. Printing it out, taking it to Moes for lunch with him and trying to calm himself down.

Classic.

Lol! Staring at it. Just shaking his head in disbelief as a single bean drops on and stains it...

...or maybe a classic rant video

Of course you can't get rid of Anger.

He's a starter!

so what ur saying is...
I can just imagine half of Jax hearing the news and being like "DUDE, WHAT ABOUT MY SUBS?!"

Dang, just looked at the Firehouse website, those pork sandwiches look good!

He's a starter!

And most importantly, a weapon. He routinely pins opponents inside the 30 on punts.

I had the same exact conversation with my Steeler fan buddy
Quote:Ummm... It's a kicker. Not a LT.

Did i say he was a LT? My point is, i hope its not a situation where we believe we can move on from someone because of potential.

Otherwise, there would be a revolt and demand for a trade to get Scobee back.
I can't imagine another fan base being devastated over the loss of a kicker, my goodness people.

Not true, my Colt friend will be sad as hell when Vinatieri leaves.
I'm ok with this move

Scobee made some big kicks for us.

If Myers makes some big kicks for us, and the pick gives us extra flexibility in the next draft, this will be a great move.

my dad looked things up,and the whole thing is all about one thing.   $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

scobees contract requres we pay him lots of money.

delete topic please

It really all depends on what we got for him and if they planned on cutting him anyway.  Either way, it is pretty bad how much they used him for PR leading up to this season only to send him packing.  It's not as bad as having Garrard at a lunch supporting the team and cutting him hours later though.

Very sad to hear Josh is no longer with the team. I'm glad we did seem to get something out of the trade, however I'm not sold on Myers as of yet. But no matter what it is his job now and I wish him the best of luck.

I understand we free up a little bit of money(what was it 3.5?) and get a pick so that is a plus side but not having a clutch player is a hard thing to overcome even if its a kicker.

I also hope to see Josh retire a Jag in the future.
