I'm still scarred by memories of Hayden Epstein, a comparison I don't think is too far off from Myers. He had a leg the size of an Abrams tank and absolutely no control of which direction it fired in (26-of-42 in college...similar stat line). To me, a great kicker is not something to be taken for granted, and I hope Myers proves my fears to be unfounded.

He's been working at his trade for a few years since college. Stats from kicking camps he's attended recently suggest he's gold on the shorter kicks and around 85 percent overall. What excites me is that his leg is actually stronger then Scobee, and there's no doubt that Scobee still has one of the strongest legs in the league. Myers has the potential to set new FG records.

Quote:Caldwell fired when Myers misses a PAT? When are we going to find out what compensation we received? 6th or higher, or Caldwell gets fired
Probably once Scobee passes his physical
Quote:Yeah, there's a risk, but the odds are highly in our favor. I love the move. Meyers has a chance to be a great Kicker for a long, long time. Scobee realistically may only have a few years left as one of the most expensive Kickers in the game.

I was sold on Myers (and figured the Jags would be too) when Myers hit that 55 yarder. Now he can settle down and do his job. Hope we have him for next 10 years.

Quote:It would still only be the second-best trade of Caldwell's career. Nothing will ever top getting the 49ers to give up a sixth-round pick for Gabbert.

That one goes down in history!

Also, Thanks for the memories and all the excitement you brought to us all these years. Good Luck with the squealers.

Congrats. You now can be a co-host of Helmets and Heels.
First Jaxson. Now Scobee. Next..the bathroom fixtures.

He have us great memories. Tough to see him go. But I agree with a previous poster...wait till the next missed FG, let alone a missed game winning FG.

Meltdown.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Give it a couple seasons.

Why is it taking so long to find out the details of the trade?

What if we're trading scobee and a pick for a player?
I hope this isn't one of those trades where the Jags could be left with nothing.  What if Scobee gets hurt and can't play? Or say, for some unknown reason, he misses kicks and gets cut in late September.  Do the Jags still come away with a draft pick?

I have never heard of the league revoking picks from a trade because a player gets hurt or gets cut. Is this a new thing?
THIS JUST IN:

ITS ONLY A KICKER

Probably waiting for him to pass physical & it's a trade for a kicker so the NFL insiders aren't kicking down doors for details.

I worry if this is "a pick to be named later."  Didn't we trade Reggie Nelson to the Bengals for Don Carey and "a pick to be named later"? As I recall, we didn't get that pick.

I guess I don't remember that. If we didn't get that pick...well, that's Jeans Miff for you.
This is clearly the worst trade in the history of our franchise. I'm absolutely disgusted with Jags management right now. Cutting the heart and soul of or team right weeks before the season is reminiscent of the movie Major League where management intentionally made bad moves so there team would lose. This is Major League'esque and then some!!! Pittsburgh just landed a winner and a leader and I'm sure Jags management will use this draft pick as they have in the past by drafting a guy who is so durable he is lost for the season on work out number one, or by drafting a drug addict who has been no where to be seen for several years, or by picking a QB who is now the 89th string QB for the 49ers - or at least last year.  Jack Del Rio would NEVER have let this happen.

Whoa!

It was for David Jones and the conditions of the draft pick weren't met because Jones was terrible.  The Jags still got a player in the trade (although with the way he played you could argue they got nothing!)

The Jags won't walk away empty handed in the Scobee trade.  For example:  They could get a 7th rd pick that would turn into a 6th round pick based on how Scobee performs.  The 7th round pick wont go away if he under performs.

So no Ponce de Leon cup for us this year? Sad
Scobee SUCKED towards the end.

Come at me bro. Dude was more focused on golf.

Oh no...we will win  the PDL Cup this year. We play both Miami and Tampa and they don't play each other which will hurt them in this years tie breaker.
