Quote:If you want to get technical, it's 4 years of losing records.
Yeah, people like to talk about how long we've been out of the playoffs, but they forget how close we came to getting there 5 years ago
To the people who have concern about him being so crappy/average in college. There is a Deadspin article written by former NFL punter Chris Kluwe saying that Kickers and Punters go pretty much their whole career without any formal training.

Any training they get is outside of the teams coaches, which is why Myers has improved a lot since he has been able to work with a kicking tutor for the past year.

I imagine kicking is like golf where it takes great technique to be consistent.

If you want to read the article, it's pretty funny IMO, just google "deadspin why kickers suck". I can't link it because it contains profanity which I'm pretty sure is a no-no on here.

Quote:When he kicks the ball it actually does sound different, strongest leg in NFL

His leg is not quite the strongest, but I'm sure his leg strength is top five.

Seems pretty good to me.

Wow!

Btw, Marcedes is indeed now the longest tenured Jaguar having been drafted in 2006. Only Clemons has more NFL experience, but of course this is only his second year with the Jaguars.

Also it sounds like Bradley was blaming at least some of the blocked kicks last year on Scobee for kicking them low.-see below quote from Jaguars.com article

'Bradley said the Jaguars would feel confident in Myers from 60 yards in, and that the team also liked Myers’ ability to get the ball up quickly and his heights on his kicks. That was an area the team addressed with Scobee early last season.'
Quote:This reminds me of trading Monroe because we drafted Joekel.

That's fair as it's all part of Caldwell's gambler mentality. That said, odds are he'll get this one right. I don't see Caldwell as one to get two strikes in a row all that often.

Are we really talking 'bout practice? I mean practice, we talking 'bout practice?

Not a game.  Not a game.  Not a game.  Not a game....practice.

Google Allen Iverson practice rant
Wow this team has been worse off than I admit. 21 pages for a kicker being traded

If missing field goals was a good thing, Scobee would be good.

Ouch. Steelers choose not to kick a game winning FG from 50 yards and go for it - don't get it.

They literally had the win on Scobees foot, and they chose to put the ball in Mike Vicks hand. Stupid decision IMO.

Another two missss from scobee today. I wouldn't be shocked if they cut him.
Quote:I just have a feeling Scobee is going to have some problems kicking in Pittsburgh. We'll see.

You might be right

"might"? he is.
Quote:"might"? he is.

I was kidding.

He's a disaster in Pittsburgh. No way he survives to next week.
He should have just retired to be honest. I mean, if the Jags are cutting you as a kicker, you know your skills are seriously diminishing, because we tend to let guys go years after they don't have it anymore.

Sooooo, a 6th for Gabbert, a 6th for Scobee... we gotta start thinking Caldwell is king of robbery trades.
