I guess it doesnt matter what I am sure about, its what Dave, Gus, and Olson are doing....

so we can only hope for the best.


Either way, with so many TEs & Rbs it shouldnt really be a problem.

He did NOT block for Peterson, he was his backup. And he is NOT a fullback. Other than that, it makes perfect sennse.


Whether some fans like it or not, Gerhart is going to play a role on this team as a RB. How extensive, is the only question.

I am hoping to see more action from Grant this Saturday night against the Giants!

 

Running back <b>Corey Grant</b> carried twice for 6 yards, caught a 15-yard pass and returned two kickoffs for 42 yards for the Jauars.

 

 

Of course Grant also had an inspiring, ultra-impressive 30-yard run that was called back due to a hold.

All running backs block when not running the ball, and to my understanding the Vikings used West Coast Offense with a lot of fullhouse formations where Toby & AP were on the field together thus blocking for AP at times.

I might be wrong, but I remember reading how he blocked for AP on many occasions...

In both 2011 (93 percent) and 2012 (92.1 percent) he ranked 49th in Pass Blocking Efficiency (PBE) among running backs who saw 25 percent of snaps. Last year his PBE rose to 95.6 percent (13th), but on only 40 total pass blocking snaps. Pass blocking has nothing to do with blocking for AP.

Not too mention Jerome Felton went to Pro Bowl blocking for AP, as well as being 2nd team All-Pro. I wonder how he got those accolades with Gerhart getting all those snaps at FB.

He's really impressed me as a kick returner and deserves a place on the 53 for that.


Hayne is causing a lot of excitement for the 49ers at the moment, but think Grant has been just as impressive in his outings so far. And he's been head and shoulders above the alternatives so far (Doss and Marshall)


It might mean we take five RBs, if Pierce makes it too, but having a quality KR is so important - I think it's worth it.

Agree. And it's not like he is going to do much else. If he makes the roster, would he even be active on gameday anyway?

If he's not returning kickoffs and punts, deactivated on the 53-man will be his dream state.

He had a good 35 yard return against the Giants, i think Storm will be the one let go and they might keep the rest.

Hopefully grant gets more chances against the Lions.

Agreed. I'm thinking Yeldon (starter), Robinson (change-of-pace), Gerhart (utility guy), Pierce (all-purpose backup). Grant will slide to the practice squad. Speed isn't enough to get you on a roster, but it is enough to make fans go googly-eyed over you.
