Yep, if we're going to keep other team's tongues hanging out chasing these guys we need the whole group.

Then..... when they aren't looking...... Bortles hits one deep.

I'm really, really looking forward to this year.

I laugh heartily at anyone still suggesting Grant might not make the team. That's like suggesting Darren Sproles won't make the Eagles roster.

Just watched his interview.....I LIKE this kid.

Seems all business.

Corey Grant's 40 yard run for a touchdown incase anyone missed it!
Didn't watch the game. Wow, that's crazy speed
Yeah I still stand by what I said about him making the team.  Let him play ST and slowly work him into the offense when he shows that he can block and knows the playbook.

Grant will make the team, but Pierce is the more complete back right now. Protecting Bortles is concern number 1.

When Grant shows that he can be good at the blitz pickup then I'd move him up my depth chart. Unfortunately, I just can't see how we can give him many touches at this stage. However, he has to much potential to simply cut.

Exactly.  I don't think he gets any touches early on unless there's a blowout and we've got Henne in there handing the ball off.  If an injury happened to Yeldon, it'd probably be a split between Pierce and Robinson.
I still say that this team needs to consider dropping Gerhart and Storm to make room for Grant. Yeldon was drafted to be a 3 down back. Pierce can also be used in short yardage situations. Gerhart is praised for his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, but his speed is lacking, and 1 yard up the middle is getting old. I've seen Grant catch out of the backfield this preseason too. He can also contribute on kickoff returns. I think Gerhart is a great guy, but I really question the necessity to keep him.

I'd keep Gerhart and Grant over Pierce if that choice had to be made. I'd like to keep all five though.

Gerhart needs to stay because he is the only back that runs with power. TJ may be 225-230, but he doesn't run with power. He's more of the elusive type. I like backs that are homerun hitters so I 'd love them to keep Grant. I've always been down on the Yeldon pick, so I say keep guys like Grant. Maybe he emerges when Yeldon proves to just be average.

Gerhart has basically been automatic in short yardage this preseason

It's possible five could stay with no FB on the roster.

Could depend on the number of TEs, OL (since those three can overlap roles in situations.)

Alualu as a FB could cause us to go lean at TE, as blocking TE could come from OL ranks if no TE necessary to cover FB roles.

Considering Caldwell's initial plan to keep five TEs, I think they are going lean by only keeping four.

I'm not convinced that Grant will make the team. He's buried at 5th on the depth chart and his only ST skill is as a kickoff returner. I hope I'm wrong about this, but who do you cut instead? Go with only 5 LB? 3 TE? Ziggy Hood?

I think Grant is one of those guys you lose if you can't keep him on the roster.

Tough decisions to be made for sure.

He's great at getting .5 yards. I think behind good blocking all of our backs could do that. The difference being, some of our backs would have the quickness to bounce around the side if the whole isn't there.

If you think he's only been getting .5 yards then maybe you aren't watching or you need new glasses.
