The stats don't show his big run last week that was called back due to a hold. It gave a glance at just how quickly he could get downfield with the ball in his hands.

I forgot about that one. Even if it is Robinson's, it's good to know they have great depth behind him. That said, Grant's returns have to make them re-think the position. I'm guessing we'll get another look at both vs the Lions.

That's my thinking too. DRob is now the KR/spell Yeldon/slash em on offense kat. Basically, get his hands on the ball in other ways, now that you have a #1 back. Surely Grant's speed may be coveted, but spots are tough to crack. More is needed.

I don't see what more he can do with the limited reps he's been given. He's certainly done more than Storm...he catches the ball when thrown to...he's shown he can get downfield in a hurry...he's exciting on KRs. It's not like he's fumbling the ball or doing anything that makes you shake your head. The thing is, this roster is sorely in need of some speed on offense, and Grant gives you that. DRob is the only other player on offense with legitimate speed, and I'd place money that Grant beats him in a race in cleats.

I understand. And Storm is no longer a Jag, really, until it becomes official. It's a #s game for the 53. With DRob capable of doing all Grant HAS SHOWN he can do, where does he fit in? The 0.1 second difference in timed speed absolutely becomes inconsequential. If he had surpassed Pierce, or harder yet, Gerhart, then he has a place at the back of the stable. For now, it appears as though he gets in only if they go 5: Yeldon, DRob, Gerhart, Pierce, Grant. I won't cut Pierce for Grant if they go with 4.

I still think Grant lands on the practice squad. Lots of guys with 4.3 speed and little else to offer are cut every September, and most of them never resurface again. 32 teams had a chance to draft Grant, and zero of them did. It's not like the Jaguars spent a fifth-round pick on the guy and have to be terrified at the thought of him being claimed on waivers and completely wasting the pick. By putting Grant on the practice squad and letting D-Rob handle kick returns, the Jaguars have some flexibility to bolster depth along the offensive line with an extra player there, or maybe a fifth safety while Cyprien and Sample get back up to full speed. I just don't see a player who returns kickoffs and does absolutely nothing else lands on the 53-man unless the team loves him and has solid information that he'd be claimed (like they did for Shatley).

The only reason Denard didn't make a house call on his return was his own man falling in front of him and tripping him up.



You also have to think of the game day actives. Denard at KR keeps an extra spot open on game day.

I beleive DR will win the KR job.Grant will have to be a star gunner to make the team.

I knew if given the chance he would prove himself to be a speed demon running machine.

This guy does remind me of D. Sproles on the Eagles.

I think he's going to make a few highlights this year for big touchdown runs.  Sure he's a rookie so he'll probably drop a pass or two, or get nailed (especially if they keep running him up the middle) for a loss on occasion but when he truly gets good blocking and only has to juke out one guy... look out...
