I don't know about you guys, but I enjoy getting to the 35-40 on kickoff returns. If we let him go, another team like the Colts will pick him up and he'll burn us twice a year, while putting Luck towards mid-field right off the bat.

1) Yeldon

2) Robinson

3) Gerhart

4) Grant

5) Pierce

Needs to be our stable of backs.

I would have TJ Yeldon as the starting rb, Robinson, Grant

For Fullback or goaline back Gerhart & Pierce can fight for the starting role.

He won't last on PS. Book it.
If his speed can get us an extra 10 or 20 yards on kick returns, then that's really valuable and he's a player we want to keep ! Unless another player can prove they can do it better... (No-one has so far)

Maybe we should get this idea out of our heads that he's a "5th RB" anyway - he's not going to be playing the position much with Yeldon, Robinson and Gerhart ahead of him. Instead, think of it as a choice between him and someone like Tandon Doss or Nick Marshall.

I hope that Dave Caldwell wouldn't be that foolish to let a talent like Corey Grant go on the Practice Squad.  If he does I wonder if Rex Ryan Buffalo Bills will sign him as their RBs are injured and Behind McCoy or Jackson as a change of pace back he would help that team out a lot among other NFL teams that would probably sign him.

Hopefully he makes the active roster.  If they are thinking about doing that they should at least give him 10 reps agasinst the Lions to see what potential he has....
Quote:Agreed. I'm thinking Yeldon (starter), Robinson (change-of-pace), Gerhart (utility guy), Pierce (all-purpose backup). Grant will slide to the practice squad. Speed isn't enough to get you on a roster, but it is enough to make fans go googly-eyed over you.

I sense you're just trying to stir up controversy. Grant has basically clinched the KR role making him as safe as can be.

Over half of NFL kickoffs are touchbacks. I think you guys are seriously overvaluing this kid.

What Bon Jagley said.

I'm inclined to agree. Not sure you can carry a KR only when you have a position player (Denard) that does KR pretty well already.
I seem to recall 2 long returns for Grant this weekend vs the Giants. Both out of the endzone and past 30 yard line. Anyways, this kid needs an opportunity to run some plays with the first string. If he can't do anything, then it is it at least arguable that he goes to the practice squad. But if he does well with the 1's, and has already proven himself to be an asset as a kick returner, then we should make room to keep him.

He is the fourth or fifth string running back. There is no chance he gets to play with the starters.

Especially with DRob currently in a 'reserve' role with Yeldon slated as the primary back. Now he gets a guaranteed 3-4 touches in STs.

02, Grant or Robinson, who would you rather give those opportunities?

If it came down to exposing Grant or Nick Marshall to the practice squad, who do you risk?

Easy choice for me.

His winning the KR role is merely the icing on the cake ensuring this roster spot. He's also shown he can be an exciting RB as the fastest player on the roster.

Marshall is not ready to take the field so I doubt any team is going to sign him off the PS. It is an easy choice. Put Marshall on the PS while giving the offense a chance for some exciting plays with Grant who also showed last week that he can catch the ball out of the backfield.

I can see plays for both of them. It's also good to know that if Robinson goes down, the Jaguars have depth behind him.

Whoooooooooaaaaaa there.

He's been named the KR?

Those 9 rushing yards are very exciting

I should have said his "possibly winning." I haven't seen anyone else come close to what he's doing except for Rashaad Greene on punt returns.
