Quote:@priscocbs So Jaguars promote a coach, keep offensive and defensive coordinators and bring in Tom Coughlin to oversee it all. OK>

Hilarious so it was all Gus huh? Lol
Quote:Actually the entire offensive staff and Bortles was/is the problem. Marrone included. However I have more faith in Marrone as a head coach having some success prior as HC. Hackett on the other hand did nothing to improve Bortles play as a QB coach.
Can't do much if the OC doesn't allow you to. It's clear as day Olsen didn't care much about mechanics considering he told Blake not to go to Cali to work on them. Once you let them go like that, it's pretty damn hard to fix them when you have to gameplan/watch tape/practice with your teammates during a week and you only get so much time with coaches.

OC has final say on things like that. Hackett worked with his footwork once Olsen was let go as Blake said and his mechanics looked much better as the season went on when Hackett came in. Last two games they were night and day better.

and the ST coach, and the OC that actually had the playbook we used (Olsen), and every positional coach.

But yeah... JUST Gus.
Quote:I would bet they bring in someone who is a mechanics guru, based on the quality of position coach hires so far.

Wonder how much it would cost to steal Adam Dedeaux away from 3dQB
Quote:Holy crap, I don't even... are you serious? Are you in you're right mind right now? Borltes is a fraud stat padder QB.
That argument has been shot down if your looking at 2015.

This year he was bad, no doubt about it. But if you seriously don't think Bortles looked very solid his final two weeks of the season and the offense was much improved, IDK what to say. It was clear as day watching games. Does that mean Hackett is the answer or Bortles will fix things and revert back to his solid 2015 play or better? No, not at all. But the final two games where his mechanics were cleared up LIKELY due to Hackett...it was at least promising.
I like this part

The jaguars improved their rankings under Hackett this past season in several categories including: time of possession (30th to 13th), goal-to-go efficiency (15th to fourth) and red-zone efficiency (16th to fifth). The Jaguars rushing attack also improved under Hackett from 30th in yards (72.6) to fifth (124.8) in rushing yards per game, 26th (3.79) to 13th (4.35) in yards per rush and from 32nd (38) to first (112) in rushes of four-plus yards.

Blake's regression is on Blake. 100%. You could have 300 coaches saying things to him - it is still on Blake to take care of business. I think any pro would tell you this.

I like this hire. The offense performed much better the last several games under Hackett and Morrone. A-Rob resurfaced. Blake wasn't that much of a bonehead.

Here's to the future.

Go Jags.

Terrible.

It is on Blake. But the report of him planning to go to Cali than Olsen telling Blake he shouldn't and needs to stay in JAX to work with his receivers...I mean, that needs to be taken into account here.

Last two games were against terrible secondaries. Offense would have looked good under Olsen.

Absolutely. Hopefully Blake learns from this and becomes a better pro.

Or not ... and gets replaced in April 2018.
Quote:So you're saying you didn't watch the last two games?
Blake wasnt total garbage against two terrible secondaries woah that really inspires confidence
Quote:Everyone is relying on stats based on the past few games. ......

Can we assume Grant is our #1 RB and our Running Game is fixed too?

Well played
All in all probably for the best.

Was 50/50 about kelly

They made the best decision for Bortles. Obviously he and Hackett have developed a good working relationship. Hopefully with a full offseason together we actually see some Ws next year

LOL...

Ok bud. Tell that to Greg Olsen when we played on TNF.

Tell that to Andrew Luck Wk 11, Matt Stafford, Ryan Tannehill, Derek Carr, and Alex Smith.

Except no one is saying Blake is fixed or Hackett is definitely the guy to get us to the promised land...

All we're saying is Blake improved under him when he got his hands on him. Blake said that much in his end of the season talks with the media. Said once Hackett took over he got him to start working on footwork which in turn improved his upper body mechanics because his feet were set. Used a baseball analogy.

Plus, look at the stats showing what our efficiency was in the red zone, our running game, and everything else that improved under Hackett.

He may very well be a bad OC for us, but he did solid to end the year with all the problems we clearly had on offense. Our run game was utterly pathetic until he took over. Bortles mechanics were better.

I can at least say we're in better hands under Hackett than Greg Olsen, not that it says much.
edit: nvm
