For some odd reason I kept getting our 2nd to last game mixed up. For some reason thought it was TEN.

You're right.  I was the one wrong on that one.
Quote:Last two games were against terrible secondaries. Offense would have looked good under Olsen.

The offense didn't look good when Olson was facing those same two secondaries, so you are WRONG.

Marrone, Wash, and Hackett should know they have the shortest leash of their respective positions in the NFL(losing record this season and they'll go bye bye). For this reason alone I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they will make changes to the offensive and defensive schemes for the better. Will it work? Who knows but I for one will be cautiously optimistic
Ok, so to piggyback on what I said before.

If TEN is SOOO bad when it comes to pass defense, go ask Derek Carr, Matt Stafford, Alex Smith, Andrew Luck in wk 11, Ryan Tannehill, etc. why they played as poorly as they did.

Not that Tanny or Smith are elite, but both struggled along with the other guys I listed...especially compared to normal. This whole "Bortles played well against two [BLEEP] secondaries, who cares" argument is just stupid. Tennessee was a team that needed that game to go to the playoffs. Their defense wasn't great but its far from trash like people are saying. It's not like youre just expected to go off whenever you play another NFL team.
Quote:Holy crap, I don't even... are you serious? Are you in you're right mind right now? Borltes is a fraud stat padder QB.

Ok, that answers it then.  You didn't watch the last two games.

Yeah you have a point although he'd played against both of those secondaries before and looked like crap.  What was different?  (Hint: the HC was gone.)
Buffalo's offense under Hackett was pretty good considering he had Manuel and Orton at QB. It was also a lot better than Olson's, and much better once Gus wasn't spreading his "just get better, winning is secondary" philosophy. I do agree that I'd feel more confident if fresh blood was brought in at OC and/or DC, but at least the Jags interviewed Kelly first rather than just settling immediately.

There's a lot of talent on the roster and an offseason with House might straighten out Bortles. Gus is gone, and that was the biggest problem. We'll see what next season brings.

I hope this works out but when you retain so many of the same pieces from a 3/12 team, I wonder if they can change the culture and mentality.

To be fair the Titans pass defense was one of the worst in the league.

Valid point.

That's fine, but it doesn't mean that you should just expect your QB to go off. There was some pretty damn good QB's that were very average to below average against them this past season. Our offense was pathetic against them the first time around.

Think it's pretty obvious Bortles looked much better regardless of their pass defense ranking. It's not just statistics, he was actually more accurate and his mechanics were in a lot better shape. That's what you look for.
Wouldn't it be easier to get 1 new QB than searching the depths of hell looking for a hundred people to fix him.
So everyone thinks Coughlin is going to the save the franchise but most disapprove of the coaches he signed off on?

Not only did I watch the games I have all 16 available at my disposal. Just because the Jags and Bortles had 6 quarters of success in the last 2 games of another dead season doesn't answer squat. Bortles is not a franchise QB. Those last two games are not a microcosm of what Bortles or this offense will become just because Olsen is gone. Bortles is a major problem. Fix the Oline, get a RB and fullback and limit bortles to 15 to 20 passes per game. Then maybe this team will show signs on offense. But I'm hoping TC drafts a QB in the top four rounds to replace this dud of a QB asap.

I mean, if there was people that had the raw talent/potential of Bortles that made him as highly thought of as he did sitting on the market I'm all for it. Not to mention he has shown that promise over an entire season in 2015.

Unfortunately, there aren't.

He was fine the first time we played the colts

what raw talent? His running ability is the only significant talent he has
Timeout. Are you guys really looking at rankings from the last 2 games of the season? Don't let this jags media fool you pls
The Jaguars rushing attack also improved under Hackett from 30th in yards (72.6) to fifth (124.8) in rushing yards per game.

A lot of stats are deceiving but this one isn't.  We clearly ran the ball better after he took over.  Assuming that carries over into next year under his control from day one, the results are going to be significantly better.
