If you are going to go all pseudointellectual in this thread (again) and question what doctors and researches have said about how Ebola is spread, I would like to know your credentials.
So please, sir, tell me everything I need to know about contact precautions, droplet precautions, and airborne precautions.

Send an oxygen tank. Clearly that brain is lacking it.
Ever watch doomsday preppers, JT? There ain't a bunker deep enough for this guy.

Seriously man get over it, we disagree on several issues. I said I'm not sure they know how it spreads anymore. Your obsession with every comment I make is getting old. Either discuss the topic or move on.

I am discussing the topic. You are implying that years of research on the transmission of Ebola is wrong. You trying to stir up the hysteria by saying things like "I'm not sure they know how it spreads anymore" is laughable. Are they sure how the flu spreads? People still get the flu. Are they sure how HIV spreads? People still get HIV. Etc. Etc. Etc.
So do you have credentials? What makes you think you know about who doctors and researchers know about the virus?

I never said I know more then anyone, your personal vendetta has you seeing things not said nor implied. I'm not convinced they (the people dealing with the outbreak) know fully how it's spreading.
Ebola is a mutating virus, I've read from several outlets it mutates as it goes from one host to another and that's why its so hard to treat much less cure. Several doctors have even said they believe the virus mutates how it's transmitted. Obviously if two health care professionals wearing protective gear contracted the virus it's easier to transmit then we first believed.
Now settle down and try to stop seeing red on everything I post because you have some problem with Libertarians.

There is a huge difference between treatment / cure and knowing the transmission process. Again, AIDS has no treatment or cure but do you question if we know how AIDS is spread? Stupid logic.
There is vast amounts of research and literature available for you to read about the transmission of ebola. You making claims that the research is faulty and that we don't know how Ebola spreads is hyping the hysteria. Your agenda is clear. If 1,000 doctors came out and said "We know how Ebola is spread" and 1 came out and said "We aren't 100% positive how Ebola is spread", you would cite the latter.

This is a strand of Ebola, this strand there is debate about how it's spreading and mutating so fast.
more people questioning it, must be all loony libertarians............

So you've got CNN, BBC and NPR all questioning how this things mutating and documenting we're not 100% sure how it's being transmitted from day to day and yet I'm just trying to stir the pot.
I think it's time you move on.
Quote:They having been dealing with Ebola outbreaks over there for how many years, and it never got here before. Not until they brought back infected people to treat here and those people survived. How long do you think it took word to get around that you can survive if you make it to America?
I'm not talking conspiracy theories and black helicopters kind of stuff, I'm just talking about people willing to take any chance they can to survive, and not caring about who they infect in the quest for their own survival.
Is your answer to never bring patients back here? Never study the disease, never research treatment and containment methods? Refrain from doing anything about the disease within our borders because people might get the idea they have a better chance of survival here as opposed to Africa?
Anyone with any knowledge of how the world works knows they will receive better care here than in West Africa.
CNN is reporting this morning that basic infectious disease protocols were violated when treating the man in Texas, and initially the workers were not wearing proper attire. In addition, it is not enough to wear protective gear, there are protocols that must be followed when removing said gear.

lol....oh is CNN reporting that?. Then it
MUST be true!....
I mean, surely they wouldn't LIE in an attempt to try and curb panic given it appears that they really have no idea how this is spreading despite these people being "trained" and taking precautions.....right??

This is much more believeable than Ebola suddenly changing how it's transmitted. Think of how silly one would sound if they suggested that you can now be effected by AIDS through airborne transmission.
I work in a hospital. Even for much less communciable diseases, there is a very strict protocol for how we put on our gowns/gloves/masks and how we take them off. Something as simple as touching the wrong part of your glove can break protocol and make one susceptible.

I see trained health care professionals break presonal protcection protocols all the time. Some people are incredibly naive.

Anyone who has spent much time in a hospital environment knows it is the most fertile breeding ground for secondary infections. One nurse I know half-jokes "If you want to get staph, check into the ER." In the CNN report, where they quoted the hospital's press release verbatim, it was noted that nurses were concerned that their necks weren't covered when treating Duncan. It was also reported that the first infected nurse had no "buddy" watching her remove her protective clothing, a standard procedure in hospitals that specialize in infectious diseases.
I bet every hospital and medical treatment facility in this country, as well as the world, is conducting mandatory in-service training and review of infectious disease treatment protocols as we speak.

Lol, and then you go on a link binge as if this proves your allegations rights? I trust years and years of research on Ebola transmission more than I trust a grease monkey's intuiton.
I'm not the one making the assumptions, I'm asking questions. It's established and credible news sources bringing this up not me bubba.

Surely no news station would lie

Surely not Fox News, either.

We aren't debating the viruses ability to mutate and become more difficult to cure/treat. We are debating it's transmission (how it spreads). Therefor, the NPR article is useless in this debate.
The other links you cited all discuss the posibility of the Ebola virus becoming airborne in the future. THAT is a possibility. THAT wasn't the allegation you made. You said:
"I'm starting to think we're just not sure how it spreads."
Researchers and scientists KNOW how it spreads, currently. Nothing you have posted refutes that. It's like I'm discussing this with a 3rd grader.

Just got my email from the Chief of Medical Staff outlining our current situation and updating precations and protocols for potential cases.
So medical professional #2 has it. Flew from Cleveland to Dallas the day before showing symptoms.
All those that think we should bring them here, would you want to be on that plane?
We "know" for certain it's not airborne.
