Quote:I like Bortles a lot.The interception intended for Shoelace /D-rob had more to do with D-Rob than it did Bortles, but he is like Bret Favre and takes a lot of risk downfield (which I actually like) I think Bortles problem has more to do with a weak oline & rookie WRs (some that cant catch) than it does with Bortles...
His 6 picks are inexcusable though.

Andrew luck in his rookie year had 4300 yds with 18 td's and 17 int's in addition to a 58% completion percentage. He wasn't exactly a world beater in his rookie year but just had better talent around him which was just as successful with Peyton Manning as the QB for the colts. Blake Bortles will be fine especially when they upgrade the talent around him.

16 games played, 575 attempts, 326 comp, 56.7% comp, 3,739 yards, 26tds, 28 ints, 71.2 qb rating
Do you think that Bortles might finish the year with his 71 rating ... and if he does would that make you think that he's the worst QB ever... well... Peyton's 1998 stats above show his 71.2 QB rating
and he turned out to be a decent player.

Be the franchise QB without the lessons?) It will take time, this is his year to throw 20+ints and not to flip out...

Bortles is a problem? Not the lack of experience on the offensive line or the fact we can't run the football at all. Or that the most reliable (health wise) target is a undrafted rookie. I don't like 0-5 either but come on.

Even on the second pick Hurns didnt turn around until the ball was nearly in the CBs hands. He acted like he had no idea he would be the hot read.
Id like to take the time to call out the wrs. They play soft imho. Yes i said it im tired of seeing them allow CBs to cut them off too the ball and out muscle 6'2 and 6'3 200+ puund guys like its nothing. Last week robinson fell down expecting vontae davis to i guess go down from zero contact and served up bortles a pick. Shorts flat out sold his qb up the river last week 2. This week Hurns and Robinson were both shoved around and punked. They seem to be fine making dazzling catches when wide open but are clearly not Blackmon in terms of physical mentality.
On Bortles 1st near pick this past game Hurns ran a shameful double move with zero effort. Later in the game Robinson allowed the DB to come back to the ball and break it up instead of shielding it with his body.
Bortles is not the issue and i hope after checking the tape both Hurns and Robinson are grilled mightily. Rookie route mistakes are okay but what i saw out there was lack of effort and lack of hunger and toughness. Same reason Mike T and Sims Walker are no longer here. Well MSW had injuries too but you get the point.

Agreed. At first I thought this was simply a troll thread until I read how many fans actually think that Bortles now sucks... he's a rookie whos only started in two games...
give him a break.

Wait a sec, if we are going to give Bortles a break for being a rookie & making mistakes then we have to give the ROOKIE WRs a break for messing up too... its a young team as long as they continue to learn from their mistakes then its not all doom and gloom...
it'll be all doom and gloom if they continue this later in the season or next year.

Cut them all, gut the coaching staff, and then get some more rookies with a new system for me to be angry at next year.

Wow... just wow. TWO rookie QBs have won against Dick Le Beau defenses. 2 for 22.
What we are seeing is part of the reason why the coaching staff planned to sit Bortles for the year, to let him get acclimated to the game at the NFL level. Instead he is learning on the job and there is a learning curve to get through.
Anyone that is surprised that a rookie QB in his second start, against the Steelers Defense, struggled is either clueless or just trolling.

Dick Lebeau was also planning against Tampa, at home, last week.

Tampa would put a 40 burger on the Jaguars. This team is tied with last year's team for one of the least talented rosters in NFL history.
