Quote:Exactly. I think Im going to take a break from this MB. People dont live in reality here.

Reality is wayyyyyy over-rated...  For instance, in reality the Jacksoville Jaguars are 0-5.

On this MB, I can hope every Sunday that we may just turn this thing around

I think you are being prisoner of the moment on this one.  I don't know if you remember the demise of JDR time period...  Or any period where TMD was taking over every thread...  Or the Tebow time period...  Or the Garrard mediocrity period...

There were many days much darker than this one...

Yea, and I had a great time at the game too. Way too many Stillers fans but what can you do? The weather was great, the game was actually watchable and we had a chance the whole time. I was entertained.
Quote:I can't believe what I am reading. This kid did what he could to win the game. Hurns screwed the pooch today, and AR-15 was inconsistent. Lets see...Rookie QB, RB, BOTH starting WR's, behind a crappy offensive line...come on. It's not BB. He's shown flashes, and I think he wanted to get something going, but the players around him suck so bad, he looks mediocre to some of you. Look past the INT's. You know ALL of you will be eating your words soon enough. If you want to blame someone, blame the coaches. They are horrendous.

You are right, this board is full of periods.
Quote:Now I remember why I stopped posting on here a few years ago, because this place is full of crazy people.

And don't you forget it, again.
18 pages of this garbage. I pray our players don't read this [BLEEP] and realize how stupid you all are

When you are a player on an 0-5 team that hasn't played very well, and been blown out more often than not, I'm sure they don't read anything that could be negative and about how bad they are.

I remember last year some of them saying that Gus told them to "not listen to all the NOISE going on outside the building"

is there suppose to be a problem with that
Seriously? You guys are ready to give up on him after two and half games?

This board is disgusting. Two and a half weeks ago the vast majority of you were calling for him to start. Now that he is, and isn't playing like Peyton [BLEEP] Manning - or rather is if you want to compare Rookie seasons -  you want his head?

Stupid people are stupid.

Finally re-watching the game... there were a bunch of dropped passes in the first quarter, I feel bad for Bortles.

He was a rookie in his second start for god's sake. I love Blake's gunslinger mentality and that unmeasurable trait he just seems to have to make things happen. I remember thinking that when he dropped the snap and picked it up and got some positive yardage to set up a first down conversion and thinking, Gabbert or Henne would have just face planted onto the ball and taken a 4 yard loss. Blake has that escapability factor that you can't teach.

However, what I don't love is his tendency to stare down his receivers. He was doing it all game on Sunday and it finally cost him (and the team) with the pick 6.

And yeah, the drops don't help. His first pick was an an ill advised throw, but basically a punt. I can live with that. He really only made one critical mistake. One that I'm fine with. At least we were in the game and moving the ball. We just need to punch those in for touchdowns and not field goals in the future.

There were an awful lot at the start. I cant believe this is even a thread though. lol, took 2 starts.

lol, no, at 0-5 and looking like they do by not being able to run or catch the ball, it is pretty good advice not to read or watch anything Jags related.

It's not pretty out there right now.
This has probably been said but other QB's who were thrust into starting roles their rookie season:

in Peyton Manning's first 4 games he had 3, 3, 2, & 3 INT's. His rookie season he also had 11 games with 2 or more INT's.

In Drew Bree's rookie season, he had a stretch of with 2 INT's in 4 of 5 games with 16 INT's the whole season with a lot fewer pass attempts.

In Andrew Luck's rookie season, he had a stretch of 4 games with 3, 1, 3, & 2 INT's.

In Steve Young's rookie season, he had a stretch of 3 games with 3, 2, & 2 INT's.

In Troy Aikman's rookie season, he started with 3 games of 2 INT's and had 18 total INT's in 11 games.

That is just a random search. But the point is, that this method of judgement is too random to make any degree of determination of how good he is.

If there is one thing that I can say for CERTAIN after watching BB play for 2 1/2 games so far this season is that:

Bortles is NOT a problem.

If the O-Line can protect him enough where he doesn't lose faith in his pass protection, he won't be so worried about locking on to the 1st read...  That's what I took away from Sunday.  The first Quarter, BB5 was looking down the field and going through his progressions.  As the game wore on, and he realize the pass rush was getting to him, he stopped trusting in the line.

BB5  is definitely not the problem.  He's only going to get better.  But he's a rookie, prone to things rookies do on a bad offense.
Personally, I can't believe this thread is 18 pages long...Call the OP an idiot and be done with it.

I agree the young rookie will only improve over time especially with the right supporting cast.

Yes it has been said, but prevailing minds in this stupid thread think that we can't compare the beginnings of other QB's to Bortles.  It doesn't make any sense since Bortles is now the problem.  Get with the program. /sarcasm
