Quote:Alright JungleCat, let's compare the two.

This team went 3 and out 21 times this season.

Chad Henne went 3 and out 15 times.

Blake Bortles went 3 and out 6 times.

Bortles has converted 9 of 22 3rd downs (40%)

Henne has converted 6 of 21 3rd downs (28%)

Bortles has thrown for 26 passes that went more than 10 yards

Henne has thrown just 15

Bortles has over 200 ypg.  Henne doesn't.

Bortles has a higher YPA

Bortles has a higher completion percentage.

Bortles has more yards.

"I'm not that guy, I'm the same guy as always, durrrrr"

For real though, good job presenting info that can be analyzed and challenged to make your point rather than starting a whinefest and floundering in it for 19 pages.
20 Pages!!!!    :woot:

Horrible calls, no players around him, including 4 other starting rookies, plus no running game. What do you expect ?? Dumb post.

Go dig up articles on Favre's first year in GB and then tell me what a problem Bortles is.
...
I didn't even read this. I can't believe this is even a thread right now.

When you have so many fans who can see no further back than the last game and no further ahead than the next, it's not really that surprising.
Quote:I can't believe you are still bumping this thread. Lol.

Trolling for sure
I'm so glad I got benched.

"Well, you don't have ol' Henne to kick around anymore."

With all the GM's and Coaches here,

Khan won't have to go far next time, he can leave the jet at home.

Quote:But Caldrac, Henne had the same receivers. One could argue that since the QB change Hurns regressed. Is there a connection?

No connection, just common sense. Bortles has had one half of football and two full games now with the starting offense. Keep in mind that he also didn't start receiving first string snaps until the week leading up to San Diego's game out West. It takes time to develop chemistry man. Both of these guys are learning on the go and on the job together. And I think Henne reached his maximum potential years ago. Where as, with Bortles, he's only going to continue to climb the ladder and improve. Just be patient. You can say he has similiar numbers to what Gabbert had but the way that they both play is polar oppositve in favor of Bortles. And here's a newsflash for you, okay? A lot of great QB's we look at today had plenty of INT's thrown during their rookie seasons. Peyton Manning jumps out instantly. Is Blake going to be Peyton? Probably not. But, it's not like it's uncommon for rookie QB's to make PLENTY of mistakes with the football. Just goes witht he territory man. It's growing pains. That term exists for a reason. Luck threw 18 INTs during his rookie season. He's already thrown 6 INT's this season through five games as well.

Caldrac I agree with you on that but let me play Devils Advocate for a moment. For every Peyton Manning that threw 27 int his rookie year there is also Ryan Leaf, Cade Mcnown, Jamarcus Russell, Rick Meier, Tim Couch...get it. As Jag Fans we always will compare Blake Bortles to great QB that struggled their

rookie year. My point is its too early to say he will either be Peyton Manning or David Klingler. I just take a wait an see approach, but I was the idiot Jag fan who believed in Blaine Gabbert too early on.

I think the difference is, from jump, dudes like Ryan Leaf and Tim Couch looked like they had no business on an NFL football field from the start (as I recall, anyway). I think the way Bortles carries himself lends more to the "he's going to be successful" line of thinking than the "this dude is gonna be a bust" one. Everything about him screams fierce competitor just by his demeanor alone. I definitely think that bodes well for his future.
didn't the browns go to the playoffs with couch?

Die thread, DIE!

This thread is still here? What the hell?
