Good Job U.S. team...

We need to make a deal with Germany. Draw and both move on.

Haha, yup.
I'm speechless right now. This feels like a loss.
Plenty to be proud of there and US deserved all three points. Getting a point against the Germans not impossible as Ghana proved, but going to be tough !

No ! That was a genuine question ? Does he play baseball ?

Yep.
5 minutes of stoppage time was BS.
So what are tie breaker scenarios? For instance, if we lose and Ghana wins do we move on since we beat them?

It'll go to goal differential.
If the U.S. and Ghana both finish with a 1-1-1 record and the goal differential is the same, what is the next tiebreaker in terms of which team advances to Round 2?

Total goals.

The whole thing felt like a punch in the gut.

Total points
Goal Differential
Goals Scored
Then it goes to Goal Differential for head to head matches, so sorta like head to head
Quote:Total goals.
Thanks, thunderbuns ( and PAjagsfan).
Based on what you both mentioned combined, it sounds like the U.S. would advance to Round 2 unless Ghana makes up a 2 goal differential in the process of winning their match and the U.S. losing their match. Right now, the U.S, has scored one more goal than Ghana.
The odds are definitely in their favor. A win or tie against Germany and they're in. A tie between Ghana/Portugal and you're in. A Portugal win and you are almost certainly in.

Because of the goal differential factor, Portugal is indeed in a desperate situation. Logically, they will be on the attack early and often against Ghana, hoping to get as many goals as possible. This has the potential to be a high scoring game. My guess is it will be.
That one hurt, but if you have me four points after the first two games before the tournament I would have taken that.
