Absolutely wasn't. Defenders foot came across leg, not on foot.
Robben initially even started a jump across the defenders leg when defender stuck his leg out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lvktfi9B1Ek (I do recommend watching the whole video because it's pretty funny, but the meat of it is at 27 seconds)
The angle of the still picture posted doesn't do it justice, and does allow you to think he was stepped on. Live video proves otherwise

You can clearly see Robben's foot and Marquez's foot with nowhere near enough space between the two for Robben's foot not to be stepped on.

BTW, there's a nice little divide going on in the news.
Middle and South American news: Not a penalty.
European news: Penalty.
US news: LeBron wants maximum salary.

Robben represents the best and worst in the sport. Great player, high energy, high skill. But one of the worst floppers in the game.
:25 seconds, muuuuuch better still image of the play. If someone mistakes that for being stepped on, well, ok. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZgtzQZiy4c

El Tri is the scum of the earth.
Herrera was being a cry baby B after the game saying this World Cup was anti-Mexico. HAAAAA. They didn't even have a tough group to get through. Cameroon and Croatia? OOOHHH, that cards were really stacked against you. CRY ME A RIVER.

They will never let this go. They are going to cry about it for at least another four years.

I honestly thought you were joking earlier in the day but the more you go on with this I'm actually beginning to think you are serious.

Quote:Ok, then I misunderstood you. I thought you meant emerging like it would ever be as relevant as the big 4 sports in the country. The only sport is has a chance of passing is hockey, but soccer will never "emerge" to the level of basketball, football, or baseball. As long as we agree that soccer is an afterthought compared to those sports, then I see what you're saying.
You keep bringing up people being defensive about soccer, but you have more posts questioning it than anyone trying to "defend" it.
Most people could care less about defending it until a few people come in here and want to stir it up.

Meh,, not so sure about that. The way Ochoa had been playing, it could've gone to pk's. Mexico was not an "easily" won matchup for NED.
Yes,, Mexico was extremely fortunate to qualify for the WC. It did depend on the USMNT vs Panama. Mexico had been horrible in 2013, but played strong in WC. They defeated Croatia and Cameroon, drew vs Brazil, led vs NED until almost the 90th min. They did win Gold Medal last Olympics (2012?) vs Brazil in the final.
Mexico was no pushover to be defeated "easily".

Croatia and Cameroon aren't good teams, they played with their back against the goal for most of the match against Brazil and the Netherlands dominated the last 30 minutes of the game. And the Olympics only features the under 23 squads so no nation can field their best team in the Olympics.

Heel is in the ground, that's the beginning of the foot being planted. Are you trying to talk yourself into this?

Unless you can magically create depth perception out of a 2D image, that picture doesn't proof anything.
