Quote:@jasoncolebr #Jaguars also have Kyle Shanahan on their list of coaching candidates. Obviously, he'll be popular.

Quote:YES!

Isn`t this like the 5th year Kyle Shanahan has been a head coach candidate?

Why does it always seem like hes a brides maid never a bride.
Quote:What? Tom is respected across the entire league. Has won multiple SBs and been in even more playoff games. No new blood. Gus was new blood. We need proven, Winner's blood.

Vince Lombardi was a great coach who won multiple Superbowls in the past as well. Why don't we just dig him up and prop him up on the sidelines like "Weekend At Bernie's" so he can be our coach? The past is the past. It should stay there.
Quote:Uhhhhh...... yes it is.

No, I'd kill for my grandparents to be 70 again. They're in their 80's now and are obviously nowhere near as healthy or coherent as they use to be. You really don't think it till you see it, healthy 70 year olds are the wisest on this planet in my opinion. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Coughlin being that old. He could coach our team for six years.
Quote:We were behind in the search because other teams did not want to hire a GM first and get him involved in the HC hiring process. I don't think some of the coaches we missed out on that way would have had any interest in the Jaguars job anyway, but yeah, going the GM-first-HC-second route cost us chances to interview Andy Reid and Bruce Arians.

You are by far the most annoying person in here, at least 95% of the board doesn't like you at all, you also have no knowledge of the game whatsoever. Go to the Broncos or Packers forum, please.
Quote:Paraphrases of Caldwell:

Still believe in Blake but new HC will decide who their QB will be. No mandate to start Blake.

Shad has selected me to find a new HC.

Decided (with Khan) to fire Bradley prior to Sunday's game.

1.  The new HC will go with what he has and what might be available.  There really is no disputing that and it's certainly not a debate for an interview for the HC position.

2.  That's the job of a GM.

3.  That was pretty much a given, though the way that it went down is certainly different and "questionable".  Firing the Head Coach in the locker room right after a game is not the "norm", especially in a visiting team's locker room.  I'm willing to guess that the decision was based at least partly on emotion.  I mean, blowing a 20-8 lead?  At that point, a change was certainly necessary. and I think that Mr. Kahn said "enough is enough" to Caldwell.

So Coughlin is dead then? We need to inform his entire family of this tragedy. They have to know they are living with a ghost!
On Caldwell essentially saying Gus wasn't his guy to begin with, please take that with a grain of salt.  I'm not claiming it's false because no one really knows but them, but it's pretty blatantly throwing Khan, his boss, under the bus.  So it's either foot in mouth (which Caldwell has done before) or Khan and he discussed it prior and Khan allowed him to exonerate himself during the press conference to kill any potential uproar at retaining Caldwell.

Who cares if Coughlin is 70? he is probably a top 10 coach.

I'd like Coughlin or McDaniels.

Been posting here since August (very lightly) and she almost drives me to punch myself in the face with every post because that would been more preferable.

I was just typing some of his answers as they happened.

You seem to have misunderstood the third one.  The firing wasn't a response to the loss in Houston.   They had already decided he'd be terminated before they flew to Houston.

I posted the second response to underscore the fact that Caldwell is apparently not being fired.  A question that was still up in the air prior to the conference to some degree.

The first quote was to make clear that Caldwell isn't saddling a new coach with the requirement of starting Bortles as many posters here have been speculating for weeks incorrectly.

I think my dream off-season right now would be Coughlin in a front office spot and then Kyle Shanahan as the HC.
Quote:I thought you liked me. To understand why I am the way I am, check out my now-locked thread in the Sideline section.

Dang, you got locked up? When did that happen and what for?
Serious question, with some of the OCs out there, if we hired Coughlin for a few years to groom his successor in the process, would hiring someone like McDaniels as OC and slap an Assistant HC label on there qualify it as not a lateral move?

I don`t think it would count as a lateral move but it would be a waste of his time. He will have a chance to be a head coach this year.

Oh I know, I just meant hypothetically

gotcha.

Personally, I would consider that a lateral move.

Yes but the NFL wouldn`t which is what he was asking I think.
I like TC, but I fear Is Coughlin the old girlfriend you dumped years ago and sometimes you wish you didn't.

The old memories of this girl makes you want her. Then you decide to Facebook her, go on a few dates and pretty soon your back into a full on relationship with her.

Then about 6 months into the relationship you remembered why you dumped her. She's not what you remembered. So you want to dump her again but you got her pregnant and you're stuck being a baby daddy.

Exactly. Mainly let's say one of these OCs wanted to work with our guys, well their front office can block a lateral move, but if the Assistant HC title constitutes a "promotion" they can't block it. Even if they're really just doing the same job.
