Quote:I like TC, but I fear Is Coughlin the old girlfriend you dumped years ago and sometimes you wish you didn't.
The old memories of this girl makes you want her. Then you decide to Facebook her, go on a few dates and pretty soon your back into a full on relationship with her.
Then about 6 months into the relationship you remembered why you dumped her. She's not what you remembered. So you want to dump her again but you got her pregnant and you're stuck being a baby daddy.
We tend to remember the good parts about how things were.......then we find out she's lost some weight, looking good, she's willing and available.....the bad parts quickly fade away.
It's always harder to go find a new , hot woman.....when this is
so easy.....and she's so good in the right places.
Next thing you know, we're back in the the trap.
I do know that what really sunk tC here was having total control of the team (gM as well).
I was at the games where he was booed and it wasn't pretty.
guess it could go either way but, don't think i would give him total control....
just coach Tom.....coach.

If other people were willing to treat me with respect and stop doing what makes me mad it would be much easier to change my ways. I can't do it alone, unfortunately.
How is J dub not banned yet for hijacking and changing the topic of every single thread?
J dub skirts around the rules by throwing asbergers syndrome in everyone's face and there are 100 different signs that he/she is full of [BLEEP].
She takes every single thread she's in off on a tangent and the second she thinks someone might say something, she demands you go back on topic.
For 50 posts she can't understand sarcasm and then you catch her on an off day and not only does she understand it but she's producing it.
The true deplorable thing is faking a disease just to troll or get special treatment.
I personally think she is full of it. I've admitted before that if I'm wrong I'll write a formal apology and leave the forum. I've offered an all expenses paid trip for her and her mother to come to a gators game so I could apologize IF I was wrong about her lying. Of course she never even replied to those messages.
In the grand scheme of things J dub is manipulating all of us and bullying people with a veil of a disease and whether it's true or not, it honestly doesn't eliminate the rules or earn her special treatment.
Generally everyone who deserves respect should get respect but j dub lost that a long time ago.
Quote:Coughlin and a young gun offensive coordinator to be next in line when Coughlin retires would be great.
Invaluable experience for a guy with head coaching aspirations.
This scenario with Josh McDaniels is very plausible. I believe Dave and Josh went to college together as well. I'd be on board.
The day someone takes relationship advice from you is the day someone takes fan-hood advice from you.....which according to my crystal ball will be February 30th.

Rekindling an old flame is like relighting a cigarette, it never tastes as good the second time.

Lots and lots of truth here..
Quote:The Gene Smith/Mularkey disaster showed us why you shouldn't go into a HC search with a GM on the last year of his deal.
No big time HC is going to go to a place where his job might be on the line if the GM is fired if the team doesn't have instant success in his first season.
LOL
You are desperate to find a way to make this narrative stick, aren't you?
(I hope they extend him too)
Quote:Any real HC candidate shouldn't be worried about, or even thinking about any GM contract. They should only be focused on winning. Plain and simple.
A real and confident coach should believe they can turn any team around, at any time, no matter what.
If any HC candidate is focusing on the GM being gone in a year because the team is losing. I don't want that candidate anywhere near my team, honestly.
It's all about one game at a time right? Isn't that what the great coaches speak? If some coach is worrying about what's going to happen to a GM, a year or two from now. Forget him because that's a clear sign of him thinking about just himself #1.
We say that, but realistically? No. Yes, being a HC in the NFL is prestigious. But in most cases, you also get one chance. Hitch your ride on a GM on a one-year leash, fail, and you could be done in the HC talks for awhile. They'd want stability.
At least, the good candidates will. Unless they are ones that are so proven, with so much leverage, that they believe that DC getting fired means more power coming their way. There's only a handful of those around
True...but you see HCs get more than one chance (Coughlin, Belichek, Parcells, Reid, etc) more often than you see GMs get a 2nd chance.

TC, Bill, Reid were wildly successful in their first stint. Not saying it doesn't happen, even Mularkey is on his third gig. But unless you're really well respected, losing that first job (and really if Dave is fired next season, we can only assume that the HC/team failed to meet expectations miserably as well) is hard to overcome. Or you wait a long time before you get another chance.
You'll either get first timers eager to get their shot, or well established ones who have so much clout they think losing their GM is actually a positive for them. Even the first timers will be somewhat limited also. McDaniels, who is on a great situation in NE, IMO, would not be one to jump if he feels DC doesn't have stability here. Because why jump because he knows he'll get a HC gig at some point, if not this off-season but the next or the year after?
Makes sense. That Bill B. who flames out first time around and becomes a HOF second time around is a rarity.

It just depends what Shads expectations for Caldwell are for next year.

He'll hate Dave forever for passing on his squeeze.
Quote:Oh please, we don't need that here. Don't forget not everyone on this board has whatever a male unit is.
oh my god. Grow the [BLEEP] up. Finally blocking you. Ridiculous

I forget. Was it Beasley, Teddy, or both?

Beasley, Teddy, and Geno Smith
Quote:What people need to realize is, Caldwell isnt getting another "4 years" or another "Gus Bradley" type of hire. Dave Caldwell is just as responsible for the mess this team is in than the coach, the assistant coaches, the ownership, the players etc. Going into next season, hes in the last year of his deal. I personally am a fan of Caldwell and still believe in him, but the writing is on the wall. This guy has one offseason to get this thing right or hes gone.
I dont believe this next hire will be long term in the sense. From here on out, its win now or you are out. I got that vibe in press conference. Caldwell seemed like he knew his job was on the line. They wont be getting some coordinator with little head coaching experience and sell that to the fanbase. They need to win now and win fast. It sucks, but his leash is about as short as you can get. I honestly think Khan intervened and laid down the law. The team sucks, the fans are upset, nobodies happy we all thought this was finally going to be our big break and even then the Jaguars still cant get it right.
This next hire in my opinion will be a win now no [BAD WORD REMOVED] allowed. It might be risky, but Caldwell doesn't have a choice. Year 4 of his rebuild, there is no escaping this reality. I may personally like the guy and what he has been preaching but Khan and the fans have been as patient as you can be. We have got to get this team in the right direction. Drastic decisions may have to be made. I think Caldwell knows this and will make a hire that not only sparks a fire for the fanbase, but is very qualified, will install discipline and has a track record of winning.
There is no better candidate right now for this job than Tom Coughlin. This was his baby, he was our first coach and his project. He lives here, he loves the city, hes got deep roots here and he is not only one of the most qualified coaches in the world, but arguably one of the best of all time. This is a guy with a tough approach who wont put up with any [BAD WORD REMOVED]. This team has been poorly coached this year, Gus was a great guy but he was just another player, he was their hommie, not their coach. It showed on gameday, lack of discipline, penalties, finding ways to lose, nobody being held accountable. With Coughlin that all changes. He will lay down the law and if you dont buy in your out. He will bring a winning culture to this team. It may not be hip and cool, but it will get the job done and quick.
I think the best scenario for this team is to hire Coughlin and he grooms a coordinator to take over the job when he is done. The Jaguars need to start winning, hell, JUST GET TO 500. Give the fans and the city something to look forward too. Im on the Coughlin train, and I just dont see a better scenario right now.
Dave Caldwell is in his last year of his deal. He doesn't have 4 years to rebuild. He has one offseason to get the ship right and to truly get this team competing for the playoffs. Their is talent on this team, maybe some tough decision have to be made. But I truly believe with a little bit of discipline and a change of philosophy and culture, this team can make a quick turnaround and compete for a playoff spot next season.
Thanks for updating us Shad.

She's on borrowed time.. Sooner or later, the powers that be will finally have enough of her stupidity and ban her.. And we'll all dance in the streets, just like most of us did with Gus being fired.

To this day, it blows my mind that TMD is banned but not her.
