sticking with someone terrible just because they're the someone that you're used to having around sounds scared of change.
Oh well. If they don't get someone else at QB the season will be bad no matter what they put around that guy.

Quote:Whats official? Caldwell making a Gene Smith-like move? Yes.Actually, it's not a Gene Smith-"like" move... It's the exact same Gene Smith move lol.
My opinion on the signing is... Meh. He's not the future, but he proved enough last year that I believe he is at least a decent backup. Now please find the future for crying out loud!

Aaron Murray.... Yeah right. Dave is smarter than that.
Aaron Murray as the 2nd QB selected - You'd have a problem with that/ or think it would be a dumb move by Caldwell?

Quote:I named about at least 6 teams in the past 4-5 years that had quick turnarounds....and I probably left out a few. No one held a gun to the Jags collective heads that they couldn't address QB better than they have up to this point. So to put the stipulation above is silly.
Didnt see your previous post, but I can guarantee you none of those teams had the job that Caldwell had. He literally inherited no talent anywhere. Many of the quick turnarounds had a roster with multiple pro bowlers.

As said, its more than just Henne being terrible. This move also pretty much assures that the Jags do not take 2 QB in this draft. Which I think is a mistake.
They won't carry 3 QB on the in season roster.
What you haven't considered is the fact that Khan has already went on record saying that this is a possibility. Coupled with the fact that Caldwell was also on record indicating they wanted to keep Henne BEFORE Khan made his comment.

Some of you need to realize that yes, we need a culture change and this team is currently going through just that. But culture changes DO NOT happen over night..

Seems like Bridgewater is the pick. Jags are trying to let everyone know we won't be looking at qb in the draft because we signed Henne

lets just be fair and call it like it is. no matter what, you arent going to be happy unless the GM of the jaguars does whatever you think would be best. so you might as well just tell us what you would do and then if it does or doesnt happen we will already know how you feel.

Yes 100%. I've watched Georgia plenty. He folds under pressure and doesn't win big games AND tore his ACL. My guy is Shaw for the 2nd QB even if you don't agree. Kid just wins and has gotten better every year. Never lost at home and beat Murray 3 times

No worries, Gabbert will beat out Henne and the other QB's for the starting job during Aug training camp and preseason.

No way of "knowing" yes, thats accurate, No one can "guarantee" anything in the future.
However, fans that actively follow what moves are made can put 2 + 2 together and use perception to come to a pretty accurate hypothesis on what the moves in May will be based off of some of the clues (FA signings) received now.

Khan has said a lot of things. Khan said before that he really wanted Tebow on this team.....that never ultimately happened either. My point being that just because Khan says something don't mean it will happen.

Ok, fine....lets use your guy Shaw....
Its really irrelevant what 2nd QB we use, in this argument -
My whole point here is - with this Henne signing - the chances of the Jags drafting YOUR guy Shaw, or my guy, Murray, or ANY QB as the 2nd QB selected in our draft is practically nil, now.

All we can do is wait and see. Shaw said the two teams who have contacted him the most are the jaguars and seahawks so I'd say the chances are higher than "nil"

So if you had to put a percentage on how sure you were the team would be drafting two QBs before Henne's signing, what would it be? And now that he signed what is it?

Quote:Carolina (fumbles punt inside the 30 they drive to win game) Pittsburg( 2 kicks from close to endzone that does not cross the 50 yard line) Cleveland(Shanked punt led to easy TD for browns)
It was so obvouis a punter cost us games that jeansmiffs drafted one the next year in the 3rd round.
Turk's fumble only lead to a field goal. The Jaguars lost that game by more than 3.
With the Steelers I have no clue what you're talking about. Nick Harris had a total of 7 punts. The ball ended up on the following yard line each time:
1st: PIT 13
2nd: PIT 28
3rd: PIT 28
4th: PIT 12
5th: PIT 45 (Note: End of Quarter)
6th: PIT 33
7th: PIT 37
Never iN Jaguars territory, and in fact none closer than the pit 33 except the end of Quarter punt, which wound up being worth no points.
Against Cleveland, Nick Harris had 5 punts:
1st: CLE 17
2nd: CLE 13
3rd: CLE 20
4th: CLE 25
5th: CLE 15
Which was the easy touchdown?

A GM that wanted to potentially win more games would have gone after Michael Vick. Signing Henne is like Gene Smith move, mediocrity.
