Quote:Hill can at least isn't checkdown and short pass all the time.

What the hell are trying to say? Calm down, step away from the keyboard and count to ten.
Mr. Dog, Mr. Dog,  Bob Kraft is on line one for you!

Put him on hold for twenty minutes then hang up,

when he calls back tell him to make an appointment.

HeadSlap

Quote:Ok genius please do tell me what backup QB we should go out and sign in place of Henne had we cut him?

It doesn't matter who the backup is.

This isn't about who the backup is. You don't make signing a guy before he can get to free agency a priority if you're just thinking he's your backup.

If this was just about who was going to be the backup there were multiple guys coming free that would have been serviceable. Heck, the Jaguars could have brought Garrard back if they just wanted a backup.

No, this was a move because Caldwell has Henne penciled in as the starter, which means another season of watching the Jaguars get pounded by any team that is even close to playoff contention.
Quote:I'm aware, he was arguing with me mostly. He's just mad that he was proven wrong, Gabbert wasn't and isn't better than Henne.
according to who? you? If Gabbert was not better then Henne he would not have beat him twice for the starting job in preseason. Now does henne have more experience then Gabbert? yes. But that does not make him better. They went with experience to finish out the season and let Gabbert sit and learn. This offseason we will see if he learned and is able to get better.
Quote:Neither are the "answer" as in long term starter. I've watched Hill over the years, he's a better passer than Henne. Hill can at least isn't checkdown and short pass all the time.

Henne threw for 9 TDs in the last 5 games of the season. For backup.. It's fine.
Quote:He doesn't dislike Henne. You may not have been here long enough, but this is basically an annual act/meltdown
I've been here awhile don't let my join date fool you, I was mostly a spectator tho because for some reason my accounts would never get activated. I know he's a moron but I try to understand his ridiculous post anyway.
We all know Teddy falling to 3 is a pipedream. Only other week 1 starting rookie will be Manziel
Quote:David Carr was the backup of Eli Manning when they won that last superbowl, what kind of argument are you trying to make here exactly?

So, because it happened once, means every team can win a SB with a crappy backup?

As said, its more than just Henne being terrible. This move also pretty much assures that the Jags do not take 2 QB in this draft. Which I think is a mistake.

They won't carry 3 QB on the in season roster.
Quote:Whats official? Caldwell making a Gene Smith-like move? Yes.
lol lets not make that leap based of him resigning a backup qb who may start during what is almost certainly going to be another down rebuilding year.
Quote:Oh, I guess he forgot how to play QB since then. Hill > Henne.

So you watch a lot of Lions games then?

Gabbert was a high round draft pick and is still young, they gave him the starting job based on potential and that's it.. I went to every open TC and watched every snap of the preseason and it was CLEAR that Gabbert was not an NFL starting QB.

Just like when the Dolphins re-signed their backup Matt Moore on the eve of free agency last year?
Quote:ok maybe polar opposite was harsh, but you can't seriously make an argument for the kid based of one hit he took and literally cried about(and im sure it hurt like hell but save the stupid [BLEEP] story i really couldn't care less)...we could  go around talking about what they make what they risk blah blah blah blah all day but it isnt gonna change either one of our stance on this....sure gabbert is tough compared to say me or you, but sry man, bash me all you want, the guy isn't the first thing i think of when i think of toughness in a nfl player.

Well first off I wasn't making point off of 1 hit. I wouldn't think of any quarterback when I think of toughness in NFL. I wasn't sharing some Flippin [BLEEP] story. I'm sure glad u didn't overeact I guess making stuff up about Blaine makes u feel better. He didn't cry about it heck he would have played with broken finger this pass season if coaches would of aloud.

Against one of the easiest 2nd half schedules in modern NFL memory...

And with that statement I win the argument. Thanks for playing.

Happened once? lol please almost every SB winning team had a terrible backup QB. Case and point. Why go sign a crappy QB like Hill when we already have a crappy QB who knows the system?

The crown jewel of this thread. Laughing Laughing Laughing
Quote:Gabbert was a high round draft pick and is still young, they gave him the starting job based on potential and that's it.. I went to every open TC and watched every snap of the preseason and it was CLEAR that Gabbert was not an NFL starting QB.
what is clear is your hate for Gabbert. If he was as bad as you say he is, he would not be on this team anymore. Its that simple your saying he is the worst is just your opinion and ppl who do this for a living are keeping him on the team and even as recently as this offseason the GM said he still believes in Gabbert. So i trust the ppl running the team over your obvious hatred of Gabbert and your opion of his ability as a QB.

Quote:While it's possible Gabbert gets cut, I'm pretty sure his future with the franchise will have more to do with his performance than Henne's contract.  Gabbert's still under contract for next year, and there's no dire need to unload him any time soon. I would imagine he'll be on the roster through camp.  From there it's really up to him.

He'll have competition with Stanzi and Scott, and there's little doubt the team is going to draft a QB, so there will be a crowd to contend with.  But, Gabbert will have every opportunity to earn a roster spot.
Really?  Gabbert always looks good in practice and camp.  His performance there really would not matter.  The team knows Gabbert is not in their plans.  Especially if and when we draft a QB.  It has been said the only reason Gabbert had not been released already was because the team wanted to have at least a little leverage in trying to resign Henne.

I highly doubt they keep Gabbert around just for a "camp arm".
Quote:Just like when the Dolphins re-signed their backup Matt Moore on the eve of free agency last year?

The dolphins already had their starter.

Signing your backup when you already have a set starter is just signing the backup.

Like I said, Caldwell figures there's a significant chance of going into the season with Henne as the QB, if that was not the case then there would be no incentive to sign him.

(Not to even mention Matt Moore is a much better QB than Henne)
