Quote:lol lets not make that leap based of him resigning a backup qb who may start during what is almost certainly going to be another down rebuilding year.

It doesn't/ didn't have to be another down/ rebuilding year.

Why is it other NFL franchises can make quick turnrounds from equally bad records and with Jax we must buy into the above crap that it takes forever. Atlanta, San Fran, Baltimore, Indy, KC, Arizona, and San Diego, and more all made quick turnarounds from bad records. This isn't the 1970's NFL anymore.
Quote:what is clear is your hate for Gabbert. If he was as bad as you say he is, he would not be on this team anymore. Its that simple your saying he is the worst is just your opinion and ppl who do this for a living are keeping him on the team and even as recently as this offseason the GM said he still believes in Gabbert. So i true the ppl running the team over your obvious hatred of Gabbert and your opion of his ability as a QB.
I do have a hated for Gabbert, he's the reason this team has been in hell since 2011. I don't know if you remember this but in 2010 we we're 1 win away from going to the playoffs with the same team that Gabbert lead to a 5-11 record (with a largely improved defense and the league leading rusher)

If you think Gabbert is/can be a good QB in this league you're ignorant and I do not wish to speak to you anymore.
Quote:So, because it happened once, means every team can win a SB with a crappy backup?

As said, its more than just Henne being terrible. This move also pretty much assures that the Jags do not take 2 QB in this draft. Which I think is a mistake.

They won't carry 3 QB on the in season roster.

No it doesn't assure that the Jags don't take 2 QB's int his draft.  Not even remotely.  How about waiting and seeing what actually happens first?

You're making assumptions.  And you know what they say about making assumptions.

Besides. You wanted us to sign Shaun Hill instead.  Wouldn't that have also assured us not taking two Quarterbacks in the draft?

DUDE! Free agency and the draft and waiver wire is still yet to come! We still might make a big turnaround this year!
Shaun Hil(lol)
Quote:Happened once? lol please almost every SB winning team had a terrible backup QB. Case and point. Why go sign a crappy QB like Hill when we already have a crappy QB who knows the system?

Hill is not crappy, IMO, and besides, I used him as only one example. Josh McCown was out there too.

Personally, I'd have rather went the 2 draft pick route and taken someone like Murray to be the backup/ developmental QB.

Hilarious I know

Am I supposed to know who this is? Would rather have McCown than Henne though
Quote:The dolphins already had their starter.

Signing your backup when you already have a set starter is just signing the backup.

Like I said, Caldwell figures there's a significant chance of going into the season with Henne as the QB, if that was not the case then there would be no incentive to sign him.

(Not to even mention Matt Moore is a much better QB than Henne)

Yep agreed with all of this....

but watch, you'll have ignorant posters claim that Matt Moore isn't good, either....just like they are doing with Hill.

Quote:smh......meet the new GM, same as the old GM....
smh.....meet the new agenda, same as the old agenda...

Re-signing a backup is re-signing a backup. You and TMD can continue to twist anything to fit whatever schtick you're trying to play.
It is what it is.  We're gonna suck next year so what's the difference.   There's no franchise guy out there that's going to turn this team around in a year or 2 so let's enjoy the pools and scoreboard and party it up !!

Sooooo....The previous GM was so egregiously bad that he left us with a completely horrible, all-time putrid roster...but not so completely horrible that it would prevent us from turning it completely around in an off-season or two?

The Attention Dog demonstrates how to have it both ways.
So let me get this straight.

We resigned Henne...so Caldwell = Gene Smith and this offseason = bust?
Hey look another faux meltdown by someone desperate for attention

I gave Shaun Hill as ----A----- example of a QB better than Henne to have chosen if they wanted to go the veteran route. I never said going the veteran route was my choice. I have stated on several occasions in the past several weeks that my solution was to draft 2 QB and the 2nd QB would serve as the developmental/ backup QB,

clearly
Quote:Shaun Hill immediately comes to mind, as a FA if they wanted a veteran...

I don't see the difference. If we sign Hill you still are in the same scenario as signing Henne. Same thing. This doesn't impact the draft whatsoever.

And if neither of them are ready to start week 1, what do you want to do?

I dont know if you remeber but in 2011 we would have been 8-8 with Gabbert if it wasnt for out punter who lost us 3 games single handedly. If facts dont go along with your agenda you just dont want to talk to me anymore then fine.
