Quote:My argument is that size doesn't matter. Peyton Manning would be a future hall of fame QB if he was six feet tall and 200 pounds. What gives you success in the NFL is talent and work ethic. If you draft a guy who has each of those he will be a star,
Then why are the vast majority of good NFL QBs over 6'?? They just happen to have talent and work ethic at a muuuuch higher rate than the short guys? Size does matter, but it shouldn't eliminate you from consideration if you don't have perfect size.
Quote:Him and OBJ are fighting for #3 WR right now. All 4 of them should be top 25 picks...could be looking at 6 or 7 1st round WRs this year even.
If that really is the case... Then waiting for a WR to the 3rd round may not get us good value after all. if all these guys will get picked high anyway..

You can be at or under 6' and be a good QB, but you need to be above average to downright special in most other facets of the game. Russell Wilson is, Drew Brees is, Johnny Manziel...we'll see but the odds are against it.

Personally? I think it's because the league traditionally preferred the prototype QBs. There have been successful shorter QBs throughout NFL history. The league has just recently been more open to shorter guys.

Exactly. Every franchise QB needs a special trait about them. If they don't have one you shouldn't be drafting them.
What's up with your boy Mike Hairlock?

So one special trait is all a quarterback needs to be drafted?
Sorry, but it does not work that way. You need a quarterback who has all of the tools and intangibles.

Come on JW. That's obvious. What I'm talking about is a strength you can build an offense around. Manning's football IQ. Rodgers' strength. Obviously you have to check boxes but you also need something that sets you apart.
Sammy Watkins is a beast.

How the [BLEEP] are the odds against it?

Truth
Watkins makes it look easy.. his catches are so smooth.
What was Watkin's 40? Expecting 4.4ish
Quote:What was Watkin's 40? Expecting 4.4ish
4.35
Quote:If he is not one of the top five wide receivers, why would #39 be a fall instead of a reach?
There are about 10 WRs worth going in the top 40, thats not a reach
Quote:<div>
Still prefer we go after one of the OG prospects in Gabe Jackson/Filo/Martin or any position then a WR @39.
</div>
I rather not go WR until at least 3rd round, but my point was Cooks could fall to 39 and would be better value then Watkins at 3 as far as where the Jaguars need to go, for other teams Watkins would be better value, where as the person I was replying to said no way that will happen.

yup official time is 4.43
I thought Lee would put in a faster time.
Moncrief is destroying the combine, not surprising me. Love this guy. 3rd fastest WR and his size is incredible
Def wanna see the RB's we are in need of a starting RB as of right now, first time in years the Jaguars has not had a starting RB
Dee Ford 6'2" and 252 lbs
That's 9 lbs heavier than he was at the senior bowl.
Will be interesting to see how he runs. But if this guy keeps his acceleration close to 260 lbs, he could be more than just a pass-rushing DE or OLB
