Clowney only 21 bench reps.

Wonder if this confirms slacking in weight room.

I think it just means we need to start comparing him more to JPP and Ansah in build and not the uber freaks Peppers and Mario.

But what does that do to his draft stock? His whole shtick was the huge guy who runs like a running back.

Not a lot of change, he's still going to do very well in the agility drills and will still be the top defensive player off the board I'm sure. He's still a very good size/athleticism combo, just not a god like some of the people on here *ahem* Pirkster *ahem* would suggest.
Has nothing to do with anything.  IIRC John freaking Henderson also couldn't do a lot of reps especially for a guy his size, but was known amongst many as one of the strongest players in the league.

edit: Big John did 24 reps

Marcus Stroud had 21 reps

There is weight strong and then just plain strong. Clowney is the latter. Brady Quinn did more reps than Clowney, bench press is not that important
You guys can talk yourselves out of Clowney all you want. You'll probably be the first ones complaining when he's getting double digit sacks and making the Pro Bowl every year.

Clowney is a freakeshly athletic guy, I dont think anybody ever said he was super strong and would bench over 30, it was all about athletic and speed for his size.

Lache Seastrunk 41.5 vert, mind boggling explosion and athleticism.

No one is saying he is bad. There are a bunch of DE that get double digit sacks and pro bowls, and Clowney probably will be one of them. He's not going to come in and start shattering records either though like many expect.

If we go OL/DL in Free Agency and take Teddy/Manziel at 3 I wouldn't mind Seastrunk in the 2nd or 3rd depending on where he's rated.
This crap means very little... every year people overreact to this stuff
Quote:Then why are the vast majority of good NFL QBs over 6'?? They just happen to have talent and work ethic at a muuuuch higher rate than the short guys? Size does matter, but it shouldn't eliminate you from consideration if you don't have perfect size.
Because the vast majority of NFL QB's are only allowed to play QB if they are over 6 foot tall. This is a silly question. If you were 5'9" and good (say like Flutie), you don't get an easy shot at the NFL, you would go undrafted, have to go to the CFL, and try to work your way to an NFL team. Most successful NFL QB's are over six foot because the NFL wants QB's over six foot. It really is that simple.

Yeah I agree.

I am sure others saw this as well. Hopefully he will be there for us at 3 and the Falcons will oblige.

Quote:Moncrief is destroying the combine, not surprising me. Love this guy. 3rd fastest WR and his size is incredible

If he is still there at our 3rd round pick you have to grab him.
My guy Tre Mason 4.44 40 38 inch vert

Like him or Hyde in this draft.
