Quote:Exactly...those three QBs are comparable and no one has an edge on the other. That's why I'm advocating the selection of an elite player at three, like a Matthews, Clowney, Barr, Mack, or Watkins. Then see who drops to the late twenties and move up from there to select the QB. We have plenty of firepower to move up from that #39 spot so to reach for the QB @3 would be ridiculous as I've stated continually as of late.
I want one of the QB, we are not taking matthews LOL. No way. Id be fine with Clowney, but thats pretty much it. We are in a good spot to select a QB. And all three can be good players.
Quote:So he's being overrated by everyone else, too?

Or are you in the crowd that thinks he's deserving of the accolades?  Or is he underrated?  Just trying to figure where everyone stands.  As of this writing, I think he's overrated by our board, and underrated by the analysts that don't even have a first round grade on him.

Because there are some that don't.

He's well deserving of it. He's rated where he needs to be. The premise of your post, from what I gather, was to say that this board overrated Teddy because he beat the "vaunted" Gators. Yet, since last off-season...Teddy has always been ranked the same. I frequent two other national message boards and the sentiment on Teddy by Jaguars and non-Jaguars fans alike has been the same and hasn't really changed.

Is he being overrated? Perhaps, perhaps not (no one really knows). But he's not being done so out of some bloated opinion of the Gators by UF homers.

I agree more with the second paragraph than the first.  He's overrated around here for many reasons, the foremost being we actually need a QB and the season really started out pretty hopeless.  I still figure the Sugar Bowl performance is in the mix, and I'm sticking to it.

This is my only message board, so I have no idea how he's viewed elsewhere.

The attention we gave him here was completely overboard and comical, though.  It crossed the line into embarrassing and undignified when we hit 0-8.

And I am telling you as someone who frequent other message boards...the attention on him was identical here and in those other boards. I'm almost inclined to say that Teddy's fans are even more cautious here, because we got stuck with "labels" such as the one you're describing here. In those neutral forums, I didn't see any (or very few and far between) of the accusations I saw thrown around here. There are no talks of "he's overrated coz he beat Florida" or "he's overrated coz we badly need a QB" or "you want to tank for Teddy? you must not be a real fan"

Perhaps it was overboard and comical, as you put it, but it doesn't make it illogical.

If there was zero logic or substance to the enthusiasm over Bridgewater, and it was borne out of our desperation for a QB, then there would be a more random and possibly equal distribution of enthusiasm over various QB candidates.

It wouldn't matter if they could actually play QB at the NFL level, as long as they were QBs.  Some would still like Bridgewater.  Some would advocate Mettenberger...some would advocate Boyd.  Some would push for guys we never heard of.

Just as long as they played the position, they would have fans here.

But we all know that isn't true.

Mock draft after mock draft, whether done by some guy with a computer or by more established sources almost uniformly have Bridgewater as a top 5 pick, and most have him as a top 3 pick at this stage.

Color analysts who have broadcast Louisville games have spoken in glowing terms over Bridgewater, and I'm sure they aren't all desperate Jaguars fans or myopic Gator homers.

But that's just it.  There WERE threads about Mettenberger, Carr, Boyd, and even Aaron Murray.  As the season went on, the Bortles thread came up, and now seems prescient by comparison to the others.  The Bridgewater fans are the loudest and most vociferous, but it's hardly a unanimous and undivided campaign.  There may have been a dozen "Tank for Teddy" guys.  Some are borne from desperation, as you suggest, but others really seem to be latching to an agenda and driving it to the bitter end.

Forgive me if I found it a bit ..er... unseemly.  And boringly familiar, if you know what I mean.

The man is a good prospect, and I wish him well in his NFL career.  If we choose him, then I'll double that effort.  But "X-player or bust"...

There's always another way.  Always.
Quote:'Being scared to draft a quarterback' is the absolute stupidest phrase I've seen. If anything, it's about drafting the RIGHT quarterback this year.

And to those offended because of a supposed racial thing between Bridgewater and Smith. Bull crap. It's because people are salivating over Bridgewater the same way, if not worse, as they were with Smith.

Well put.

You assert some Bridgewater proponents are advancing some agenda.

If it is an agenda other than doing what they think is best for the Jaguars, what is it?
Whoever had the gallstones to say that Winston was a better qb than Bridgewater was a fool

I told you guys that right in this thread

I tried to warn them.

The boy is young so I am not gonna crucify him but he still is in the one read and run phase, he lacks pocket presence when there are rushers around him

God dang what in the were people thinking when they wanted to tank for the kid

Arm is not even that strong
Though I'm not evaluating Jameis Winston based on one game and I still think he's got plenty of potential, I'm pretty sure this outing shows why it's probably pretty foolish to crown a freshman the guaranteed top pick next year.

Matt Barkley. That's all you need to know.
Then again, he could come back and go all Andrew Luck on this game and cement his Heisman legend. We'll see.

first good defense and jameis poops his pants.

I clicked on your post hoping for a link.

:disappointed:
He looks better in the pocket than Winston.
Auburn's QB looking better than Jameis.
