Quote:Yeah, that last line really makes me put a TON of stock in that report. Manning had the skills then and everyone knew it, he just couldn't win the big games (a trend that continues). That report probably came from the Chargers scout hoping that the Colts would pass on him.
Seriously, is that what your hinging yourself too?
Everyone and their grandmother was saying this, even amongst the Colts
Quote:Brees did a demo where he hits the post something like 80% of the time from that distance, his accuracy is incredible.
Again, you people are ridiculous if you think those QBs don't/didn't have elite physical tools.
Everyone in the NFL has elite tools that's why they are in the NFL. You can twist what ever tool you want to favor your argument. What separates the good from the great is what they do when they get their chance.

That's my point. These folks are saying that the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game weren't/aren't elite athletes.
Quote:Funny, all you've done is regurgitate what a few amateur draftnicks have drooled over.
Someone sounds butthurt that I do actually make my own decisions. Don't worry. You aren't alone. There are many sheep in this herd of imbeciles.
I don't understand how they let you be a mod. You resort to name calling and childish tactics, sometimes pushing an agenda worse than TMD. If someone doesn't agree with your opinion, you immediately call them stupid and seldom provide any useful information into a back and forth. What makes your opinion worth more than someone else's? Where are your paychecks for scouting and evaluating players? Do you have a list of you historically being right about every player you have pined over or condemned that would allow us to say that historically you know what you're talking about? Or should we just take it as Pirkster, the mod, said "Bridgewater sucks you imbeciles, now stop having original thought." If you want to reference sheep, you, yourself are trying to create an environment of sheep with you as the shepherd and it really lowers the quality of conversation on these forums.

That's just silly, they are all elite. I think some people just think of elite as running a 4.3 and built like Hercules.

pirk loved Leftwich....rofl....
Quote:Waiting for Pirk to just come and say he doesn't like black QBs. He won't be the first poster on here who has expressed those sentiments.
At times that thought has crossed my mind as well, except his previous love for Byron Leftwich kinda goes against that.
The only thing I think truly limits Teddy is his frame. If that can be improved all of the tools are there to be a great QB. He has the arm, the brain, the pocket presence, it's there. He needs to work on minor details in footwork etc. and deep routes but with a good coach the potential is limitless. Bring me Teddy, Caldwell. Make him a Jaguar.
Let's be real guys. The talent at the top of this draft, especially at positions of need, is enough to get us a legitimate Pro Bowler at our pick. Whether it's Teddy, Clowney, Manziel, or Watkins, we are going to have a brand new stud on our team next year. I'm excited.

While I agree.....this team has to find that franchise type QB this offseason. If not in the 1st round then however it happens/ trade?/ whatever....
But you are seeing in the playoffs again how game manager level QB just aren't enough to get it done. They can beat a lot of bad teams in the regular season, but when better competition comes in playoff time and big plays need to be made from the QB position to win those games, guys like Alex Smith, Nick Foles, and Andy Dalton are not good enough to make it happen. Game managers.
Then I guess the question becomes whether A) Caldwell thinks there's a franchise QB in the draft other than Teddy (and we're able to get him), or B) Whether he thinks Teddy is worth trading up for.

Well, trading up in the first round wasn't what I had in mind when making that post....
I think you need to take BAP and get a stud at pick 3 without trading first, (whether that pick is a QB or other position), (or trade down for a windfall of choices) and then if after that pick, you still need to get the QB, you take it from there, and make whatever deal you need to at that point. Caldwell is getting paid handsomely to be able to research and orchestrate this kind of opportunity so I don't want to hear excuses. Brunell was got with a 3rd + a 5th. Those deals are out there. Mallett could be that guy.

Look at the Bengals. Probably the most talented position players in all of football on offense but they have Dalton. And they are getting shelled today.

Exactly.
Game manager QB will only take you so far.
Good QB play to win the game and are aggressive. Game manager QB play "not to lose" and are conditioned to play safe rather than go out and make the big play.
I disagree that Dalton was out there trying "not to lose"... he was actually just reckless with the ball, tried making plays, but they ended in turnovers.
I agree that game managers aren't going to make it in the playoffs.
HOWEVER, we are so far behind these teams that getting QB like an Andy Dalton would be a huge upgrade for us.
Eh. Dalton is Henne is Locker.
They're the same guy. Different stats, but the same player.
Quote:Eh. Dalton is Henne is Locker.

Eh, I completely disagree.
Some people have two categories. Game Mangers and Elite QBs. There's guys that are somewhere in between ya know. I think guys like Matt Schaub and Andy Dalton are definitely better thanthe Chad Henne's of the world, they're just not good to elite. They are good enough against most of the NFL, but not against the best of the best.
Both would be upgrades to guys like Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne.
Why does a QB have to be a Manning or Luck? that is so dumb, he is a top 5 pick among GM's and scouts which makes him not overrated def to a team needing a QB.

How many teams has Locker and Hene lead to the playoffs? Henne has never had a season with more tds then ints, Dalton has dont it his first 3 years, Dalton isnt a elite QB but he is good enough to get you to the playoffs every year while you build your team. I take that any day over picking in the top 10 ever season.

In all 3 wild card games....the team with the better QB won those games. -
