It appears as though Lamar Jackson is taking over in baltimore(coulda been ours but thankfully u know, we took that stud taven, the next great florida draft pick of ours) and flacco is on the outs.

Idk flaccos contract aside from his last year being 2021..  Being that bortles can be cut after next year for only 5 mill dead money against the cap, I wonder if baltimore would do bortles for facco strait up, allow us to draft a QB and play behind flacco for a year or 2.

Flacco is no tom brady, but dont even start with the hes no better than bortles crap. He would HOPEFULLY allow us to have 1 more good year of trying to make playoffs before the defense is blown up with cuts. He is a good solid middle tier QB who we can move on from after a year or 2 and insert our qb we draft.

Right now I think this is easily our best option to try to compete next year for a playoff spot while also getting a young qb and not have to play him year 1.

Baltimore does this assuming it allows hem to save money a bit earluer wih bortles contract than with flaccos.. this all goes out the window if they can move on from flacco just as quick as bortles contract wise obviously

Just think about the place we are currently in where the fan-base is clamoring for a 33 year old Joe Flacco. I wonder if Bortles knows that he destroyed fan morale THIS badly.

yep, It is far from ideal, but flacco, though nothing special anymore, is still a MASSIVE upgrade to bortles, only because of how bad bortles is... He throws a very good deep ball, and is pretty accurate.. yes he isnt mobile and we would need to scheme around protecting him, but bortles sacks himself just as much anyways

IF, this team wants to make another run, and hold out on cutting a bunch of big names until the following year, this route makes the most sense IMO.  run it back hoping to stay healthy, and hopefully with a few new coaches calling the shots
Lame thread is lame.

Best to face reality now and realize that we're going to have to find a QB in the 2020 draft.  2019 is going to be a wasted year.  Might as well cut the overpriced older players to clear cap space to re-sign some of our better young stars.

Bortles has no trade value because of his contract.  We'd have to give up draft picks just to get out of it.
bring in 12 QBs.....keep the best 4. GET RID OF BORTLES AT ALL COST. .............................Let each of the 4 get a game in the preseason with the 1s....best man is the guy. Can't be worse than what we've been doing
We are tanking, can’t belive it took me this long into 2018 to realize it
They mentioned Jameis Winston on 1010xl. I wouldn't mind that.

Wish it were true, but we just have poor coaching that leads to busted coverages, inept play calling, and a total collapse.

But we're still in the running for the 1st overall pick.  Hopefully the Raiders and Cardinals can get a couple more wins.
I would take anything over Blake Bortles. Gabbert, Leftwich, Garrard, anybody.

I would. He throws as many picks as Bortles does and he's every bit as inconsistent.
Flacco has a $16 million dead cap number next year with no offsets. A straight up trade would have both teams immediately recognize the remaining signing bonus for the QB they are trading away. The Jags would take a $10 million hit for Bortles. The Ravens would take a $16 million hit for Flacco. Then, each team would be responsible for their new QB’s 2019 salary which would also count against their cap. This trade isn’t happening.

Give BB5 the weapons and coaching Winston's had and he'd be an all pro.

Sarcasm?

You really don't think that Evans, VJax, DJax, OJ, Brate, and The Dougernaut far exceed anything BB5 has ever had to work with?
Yall dumb if you think any QB (including #12) would do well behind this oline and these WRs. I agree that Bortles is bad, but no one would be good in these circumstances

It's not the fanbase that's clamoring for Flacco, it's just KJD. Which is like a street bum clamoring for a sandwich while passing up the all-you-can-eat buffet at the casino.

And apologies to the street bum for comparing him to KJD there.
How about Eli?
The next QB needs to be able to at least throw accurate checkdown sideline passes to a wide open rb.
Making excuses for Blake just like people made excuses for Bradley.

HES BAD. It’s time to move on.
