So you think he’s going to shock people and at the same time you wouldn’t be shocked if he was cut?
Riding the fence so when he’s cut you can look back and say “see. I said I wouldn’t be shocked.” Smart move.
You can still do better than expected and not be cut.

How do you know he lacks ability?
He was a mega draft bust and also failed in his baseball persuit too?
Maybe he's good at basketball right?
You know why he's been given a chance. Although 'chance' is the wrong word because he won't be cut even if his performance is awful.

Football is the toughest of games, and it's hot out there in 90° weather. Give the guy some credit for grinding and taking a shot. It's fun to watch and see how it plays out no matter what happens.
I would still take Tebow over all you shlubs.

I mean it was pretty much proven that he didn't have the ability back in 2013 when he couldn't make it in the NFL and had to go try baseball.. He certainly isn't going to magically find it now at 34 years old, if he couldn't find it when he was 26.

That's not true. He's already qualified for his NFL pension.

I don't see any of us out there, mostly 'cause we aren't Friends of Urbz.

His net worth is north of $6 million and he's got a steady income stream from endorsements and whatever else work he does. The NFL pension for a three-year player is $21k per year. I don't think UM is particularly focused on organising his team plan around securing a financially independent Tebow a $21k revenue stream.
I give you credit for the passion of your anti-Tebow obsession but you'll need to work harder to make your posts more convincing to a reasonable audience.
Why? I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. And even if I were, this is Tim Tevo we're talking about, there isn't a reasonable audience at this point.

I didn't know he tried to convert to TE when he was 26?

He was a bust at QB for sure. If he was going to have had a chance at TE or fullback or whatever he's trying to do, he would have had to have made the switch way earlier. I'm not quite as hostile about him making the attempt as some others but ultimately it's just a waste of time and the sooner they cut him, the better.
He's a Jaguar right now, and it's sad to see so many anxious to see him fail/cut. And to see so many laying the foundation for their excuse if he is not cut.
Just put yourself in a position to enjoy it if he's a goal line specialist that delivers some key touchdowns or first downs. It doesn't mean that you can't preserve your pure hatred for his fans, what he stands for, etc. But you'll be better for it if you root for Tim Tebow.

I really told myself I wasn't going to get back into this stupid thread. But if this is why he's getting a roster position, it's wasted.

Didn't want him, don't want him, can't wait for him to be gone and take his zealots with him. If he's here this season that's too bad and shows the team is about pandering for t-shirt dollars and not about winning.

Given the fact that Tebow is immortal and will likely live forever, that $21k/year can amount to a lot of $$. Although, I must admit, given the cost of money factor, that $21k will really not be that valuable in the year 2245 when Tebow celebrates his 258th birthday.
(06-20-2021, 07:49 PM)OzJohnnie Wrote: [ -> ]I mean, if UM really wanted to make sure that Tebow had a $21k in annuity income then Meyer would be better off putting about $600k of his own money in an indexed trust and then paying Tebow 4% from that each year. All it would take is a two-minute call to the accountant and 30 seconds to sign the paperwork. And it has the advantage of being a much easier path to $21k in Tebow's pocket than tanking the Jaguars organisation.
No, I'm afraid that you'll just have to accept that UM thinks that Tebow will either make the team or maybe do something else for the team that helps them win. The most obvious motive is the most likely: UM wants the Jags to perform and he thinks Tebow can help them do that.
I sure hope you are not a financial advisor.
Option 1: Let Teebs eat up a bottom of the roster spot for at least 3 games this season (my suspicion is that unless injuries decimate the roster, he spends the year on the team). Impact on W/L record: minimal. Impact to personal bank account: not one dime.
Option 2: Cut Teebs in the preseason, set up a trust with your own cash, pay Teebs annually: Impact on W/L record: minimal. Impact to bank account: at least $600K.
I am not a finance guy, but I imagine there's things like broker fees, taxes on interest, liability of loss etc associated with the personal investment. The first option is of so little risk both financially and professionally that it cannot be dismissed this flippantly.

It’s not so much anxiousness to see him cut as it is the knowledge that he’s going to fail and wanting to get the circus over with. If he was actually a good player, the attitude would be substantially different.
