Youtube has an excellent interview and film study with Cooper, Baldinger, and Warner. You also get a very good sense of who Cooper is and his ability to read the CB across from him. I encourage the board to view the video. Unfortunately, the message board's system will not let me link the video due to it being an NFL video. Go to your browser and put in "Amari Cooper on the Art of the Release & Route Running". I promise it is a good watch.
Yeah, that's a great video! Thanks for sharing it. A separation guy that like is well worth a 3rd rounder.

1 year. 8.5 million. Extra 1.5 million if he crosses 1,000K receiving yards.
I’d give a guaranteed vet minimum deal, with incentives for games played, downs played, yards, rec, etc.. More play= more pay, in other words. I’m sure there is a creative way to do this in an extremely low risk way.
We need something for speed. Even if it has to be MVS from the Packers, we HAVE to have a downfield threat.
Vet minimum is just over $1M for his level of service (6 accrued seasons). I have a feeling someone else is going to be more willing to gamble than that.
He probably won't see the $10M guaranteed that the Phins got phleeced on, but if anyone else throws an offer his way, your proposed offer is gonna get laughed out the building.
Probably gonna need an offer around $5M to get the deal done, if I had to put a number on it.

And you really think he would do that? LOL.
He won’t be getting many offers based off his injury history, that’s just what I would offer. If someone else offers more so be it. Wouldn’t go into a bidding war for Fuller, that’s for sure.
Dallas is releasing cooper per PFT
I say take a 1/2 year flyer deal on him

Why would he take that when he is likely to get way more than a 1 or 2 year flyer deal?
He's going to sign a big contract. He's still only 27.

Pay that man and put him in teal!

I thought he was gonna be great at the NFL level - better than Julio!
Boy was I wrong. I thought he had next-level route running - but all I see is lazy footwork. He got his contract and stopped putting forth the max effort.
It's really a mark of all Alabama players.
On March 20th, 4 days following the new league year, Amari's $20m base salary from Dallas becomes fully guaranteed. If Dallas is going to release him, they will need to get it done before that date. I am a fan of Cooper, the healthy still young 4 time pro bowler, and would love to see him catching balls from Trevor.
This past season in Dallas, Ceedee Lamb was a tremendous WR, and caught about 80 balls for 1100 yards. Gallup and Wilson combined for about 80 balls and over 1000 yards. Schultz caught about 80 balls for 800 yards. Cooper caught about 70 balls for 900 yards. Dak Prescott and Kellen Moore liked to spread the ball around to different targets. On the Jag's team, being the clear alpha, I could envision Cooper putting up numbers to easily justify a salary in the $15-17m per year range.
If Dallas does let him go, and assume the Jags want him, they would be competing against numerous other teams for his services, and likely would have to pay a premium (I doubt Jags would be his first choice of his options) and a sizeable upfront signing bonus. Just throwing it out there for thoughts, assuming you would want him in teal....would it be advantageous to give the Cowboys a late round pick to obtain Amari for sure. The Jags would obtain his remaining 3 years deal ($20m per year), which is likely about $3m or so more than what he's worth, but would not have to pay any signing bonus (could cut him without dead cap if he underperforms). With salaries moving up*, if he does excel as I think he would with Trevor, the other 2 years may be more palatable. I am mentally torn on this one.
*Spotrac estimates free agents Davante Adams and Chris Godwin market values to be over $25m and $18m this next year. Existing contracts are moving up Hopkins $27m, Jones $22m, Allen $20m....

I think if you trade for him, you run the risk of having a player who doesn't want to be here.

Interesting thought that had not crossed my mind. I would think you could mitigate that by asking Dallas if you can speak with his agent before consummating a trade. It's not tampering if they agree to it.

In 7 seasons in the NFL he has played 16 games four times, 15 games twice, and 14 games once. Whatever injuries he's had, he's managed to play through. In addition, in those 7 seasons he has 5 seasons of 70+ receptions and 1000+ yds. We haven't seen that type of production since Jimmy and Keenan were playing...

I think NOW you went too far.
He's made four (4) Pro Bowls and is still in his prime.
Last year, he was on a team with a healthy Cee Dee Lamb, a mostly healthy Michael Gallup, a healthy Cedric Wilson, a healthy Dalton Schultz, Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard.
Somebody's productivity was bound to drop off under the circumstances.
If Dallas isn't careful, if they move Lamb to #1, they could see his production drop too.

Agreed. I love Lamb, but he needs that possession type player to play off of. If they think they can simply move Gallup into that role, I think they will be disappointed. Gallup is a good player, but he's definitely no Amari Cooper. I believe they will see a significant dropoff unless they find a good receiver in this draft to fill that role.
Good thing a lot of you guys are not general manager's in this thread. LOL. Wanting to throw away third round picks on a guy that's on the verge of being cut. Sheesh....

I can't take credit for this being an original take of mine. Acho and former Jaguar Wiley were discussing this on their show yesterday. Acho cited a few instances where productive #2 WRs were moved up to #1 status for one reason or another, and the results were jarring.
He cited Calvin Ridley after Julio Jones left Atlanta, Ju Ju Smith Schuster after Antonio Brown left Pittsburgh, and there was a third one I can't recall. It was a really good segment that made up for his loony QB rankings.

I saw one article on ESPN that had us signing Ju-Ju in free agency and I winced. He is the epitome of the word "average WR." I truly don't know how Pittsburgh could have ever thought he could be a #1 guy. IMO, he's barely a #2, more like a #3.
Every once in a while, Acho says something halfway smart, both most of the time he says some pretty outlandish stuff and I think he does it on purpose just to make headlines. I really don't think he even believes a lot of the stuff he says. LOL.
I'd give one of those 3s for Cooper. That would give us Cooper, MJJ, a draft pick, LS10, Agnew plus that bevy of low end guys like Treadwell and Cotton to choose from. The key is getting a high end guy with our 2 to be the #1.
Cooper is 27. How much longer will he have WR1 ability? 3 years? 5? if more than three then a trade for him would make sense since he has 3 years left on his contract. But, I would not give up a day two pick.
