Ahhh, the sweet results for my one player. Well, I'm a '9'ers fan now. Have fun, all, trying to convince yourself that TL is a NFL calibre QB. Let's see if Bartch can get himself a ring. Lord knows my childhood team, the Vikings, will never deliver.
I'll just lurk from now on to enjoy the salty tears of the few jackbooted maniacs here who try to enforce mindless groupthink on the crazy train to perpetual underperformance.

Well me never improving is a water mark you’ll never meet.
So there’s that.

Yea he is a troll because he isn't a lawrence posterboy on this board. Just go be a fan player elsewhere, you clearly don't care about the team overall just trying to troll people that have a different opinion on your mancrush
I posted this in the Lawrence thread and realized it really belongs here as not to sidetrack that thread:
Quote:The team absolutely must get at least one piece in free agency for that line so they are not drafting multiple linemen and expecting them to start right away. That rarely works out.
If they sign the best possible FA center and work a deal to bring in Cleveland again (or a similar/better FA guard) - then they have some latitude on draft week.
This is the big X factor in the OL fix for me:
ZBS vs Power traits
In the same way that this OL handcuffed Press Taylor and the offense as a whole, the OL was in turn handcuffed by the traits Pederson and Baalke agreed to target for their OL acquisitions.
We heard Pederson, Baalke, and Rauscher all talk about athletic guys that can get second level over and over again in the offseason -- only to see those athletic guys get beat down with a fresh batch of whoop [BLEEP] every single week when the games began.
I'm over it with the athletic traits, and I'm over it with running ZBS 85% of the time.
Get some damn maulers in there who are just athletic enough to still run ZBS - but strong enough to block power gap runs.
It is tragic to watch a franchise steeped in a rich history of potent rushing attacks fall into this current mamby-pamby bull [BLEEP] with guys up front getting rag dolled around on every snap.
And this Rauscher guy better get it together too. If I ever have to see our LG and C literally playing a game of [BLEEP] patty-cakes while someone like Chris Jones is blowing by them unabated to the QB I might quit going to games.
Whomever they sign or draft - that [BLEEP] needs to get coached the hell out of them.

AMEN ! per Searcy our current center just doesn't have "enough junk in his trunk". He also plays high and therefore has no leverage ending up on his butt. Picking up a FA o-lineman will be hard as they are scarce, so we will need a bit of luck.
Only thing that gives me hope is Doug and Phil, last draft managed to pick what appears to be 2 good lineman (well 1 at least, Hodges is yet to play) It is looking like we are gonna need to use 2 picks on the o-line and 2 for defensive beef this year.
Ratings are just ratings. I'll forever die on the hill of QB make the line.
If you have physical talent you can always buy time in the pocket. But lets go ahead and take the lazy approach and blame the oline for poor QB play.

Luck had physical talent. So did Robert Griffin III as well as Ben Roethlisberger, Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair, etc.
Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers, etc. The game is rarely won outside the pocket unless that pocket involves a running game that keeps a defense honest.
Just because you CAN do something? Doesn't mean you probably should. Injuries suck. They take a toll on you at some point. Lawrence tried using his physical talent throughout the season, guess what it did?
It got him a knee sprain and a brace, an ankle sprain, a concussion and a sprain in his throwing shoulder. Pretty [BLEEP] hard to use your physical talent when you have the snot smacked out of you.
Stroud, hell, he missed 2 games using that physical talent with a concussion. How long before it catches up to him? The fun ends when the funds end man.

Anthony Richardson tried using ONLY physical talent
Look what that got him

Same for Justin Fields and Lamar Jackson. Some guys have to learn at their own pace but it takes it's toll.
Jackson missing the play offs last season in 2022 I bet motivated him to protect himself more in 2023.
The end result? #1 seed in the AFC and two dominate wins over the best teams in the NFC along the way.
He seldom used his running ability in those wins. Think this was his 4th lowest rushing season total in his 6 year career but he had his most pass attempts in a single season and that's with him missing 5 games last year and 5 games the year before that one.
There's a maturation process for QBs. I hope Lawrence has learned this heavy price to pay in year three as "being the man" only matters when you're physically available.
Playing like a wild horse and gambling around out there ultimately set himself back and his team back but line play absolutely [BLEEP] matters and if you think it doesn't you're dumber than a box of rocks.
Ask the Bengals how they feel about Burrow. Look at all the money, as much as we bag on Taylor with the Chiefs? They TRY to protect Mahomes. It's common sense.
Brunell and this offense in the 1990s does not happen at all without the likes of Boselli, Searcy and the running game.
It amazes me at how dense our fanbase has become. Especially the old heads. Knowing DAMN WELL there's NOBODY remotely CLOSE to those guy's calibers with this current line up.
We have well below average starters at 5 critical positions on our offense.

Right and Lawrence isnt close to those guys you mentioned here.
Lamar won Rookie of the year his first year. He still escapes the pocket when pressure gets to him and buys time to hit the reciever open, while Lawrence takes forever to proccess the field or makes a mistake OR OR gets sacked.
You guys act as if only Lawrence deals with pressure in the league. OL talent in the league is probably the worst of every other unit in the league.
But we get it, people on this boards already made up their minds, oline bad, lawrence good.
Will be singing the same tune next year regardless of how many oline players we draft.....its going to come down to the OL why lawrence sucks. Lol
