If so, very interesting.
There's no evidence to support this claim though. Other than a few sideline shots of Doug directly communicating with Trevor from time to time with the play sheet covering his face.
Which, again, he's the head coach. Him talking to anybody really shouldn't mean anything other than just that. Until Doug outright says, "Yep. Press has had no luck with this shanty town of an offense calling plays, it is now chiefly on my shoulders with play calling duties now".
It's anyone's guess and pure speculation at best. I could care less at this point. Nobody will question the method as long as it translates into success and winning football games. It's when the method leads to madness that people want to poke and prod.
Which is also fine and fair. Comes with the territory.

What makes you think this?
Trevor had 16 yards at half time and it looked like he was more focused on the play sheet with his glasses after the half. Also if its not working and Doug is smart which I think he is, why not trying calling plays just to see if anything changes and he has won a SB calling plays on top of the experience. If he is going down at least go down swinging and knowing you tried everything you can. Even if it helps nothing at least you tried something different and went down on your own play calls. Also it's well known Khan wants Doug to call plays so I would bet Khan and Doug has talked a number of times after this 0-2 start. I don't even know how if it will make a difference but it's worth a try.
Why would it be in that order last week except how Trevor performed? Everyone's been saying it's been Doug in the first half and Press in the second half of games.
Tonight is the night to get the season back on track. Win the next 2 and we are top of the South and things look very different. If we can play as clean and mistake free game as possible then we have a good chance
I want to see a team angry and wanting to get things turned around. If we go down swinging then I can take that, beating ourselves yet again is unacceptable.
Let's go Jags. Duval vs All Y'all

Who do you think is calling plays?
I would say probably Press Taylor.
A head coach's job in the NFL is not what you think it is. It's not his job to micro-manage his staff.

You do know there are a number of head coaches in this league that call the plays right? Some of the most successful coaches at that. You are calling Doug a micro manager in 17 when he won the SB? I'm sure one of the reasons Khan brought Doug in also was because of his playcalling. If Press has called the plays the last 2 games then they absolutely need to make a change.

You do know that it's very rare for a NFL head coach to call plays, either on offense or defense right? In almost all cases that falls to the coordinators.
I never called Doug a micro-manager, I pointed out that it's not the job of a Head Coach to micro-manage his staff. You suggested just that by claiming (in your mind) that Doug took over the play calling.
Regarding the part in bold, I don't think that Mr. Khan knows a whole lot about play calling and I would think that he hired Doug because of his past success
managing a team (including staff) to win a Super Bowl.
I hate prime-time games because of the time. Usually I would miss the second half of this game due to having to be up and ready to work the next morning. 3:00AM comes way too early and at my age I can't get by with just 4 hours of sleep.
Luckily this week my co-worker that I commute with to Jacksonville every week has something going on where we don't have to leave at 4:00AM so I can watch the game and still get a good night's sleep before having to get up and go to work.
We may not need it in a must win situation, but we're going to be at that point soon.. we should really want a win at this point. Things have gotten off to a sloppy start.
A win tonight would be huuuuge. 1-2 looks a lot better than 0-3, with a divisional game this weekend. The Jaguars normally play the Bills good.
Etienne needs a monster game.

This is an article from 2022. Take it for what it is...
But based on this article, there are plenty of head coaches that game plan, scheme, and call plays for the offense. (Notice Doug was there in 2022).
The top HC's of the article also have top flight offenses in 2024. Except for us... In which Press was calling plays in 2023, and now in 2024 we have no idea who calls plays or runs the offensive game planning, scheming, and play design. It's totally not true that it is a rarity that HC's that are offensive minded aren't fully investing in how the offense runs on Sundays or how the offense is prepared during the week or preseason.
Heck, the Cowboys forced out thier OC after 2022 because the offense was so bad, and the owner/GM/Press-Secretary/Head-of-Cowboy-propaganda basically forced McCarthy to take over the offense.
If you want to call the article trash, that's fine. If you want to say the source is garbage, that's fine too. But the majority of football analysists nationally all give many of the top notch offenses credit for their success because the HC is the one calling plays, scheming plays, and game planning for the offense.
Need to take away the run like last year. Force Allen to put it in the air and take our chances there.

I just hope Josh Hines-Allen eats tonight... That would be so sweet!
Trevor needs to make some plays with his legs tonight. Hate to put him at risk but he need to take some chances like Lamar and even Josh Allen tonight.

The current state of the NFL requires a mobile QB. The thing is, Trevor is mobile. For whatever reason, we want to keep in in the pocket all of a sudden.
I remember in 2022 when there were so many plays where they would call roll out plays for Trevor.
Either way, I just hope they let Trevor do what he did in the 1st half of the Dolphins game. We looked good on offense when we had the phins and the browns on their heels. That requires that our offense be less predictable.

Whaaaaat? 4th in the league in points scored is ‘so bad’. And that’s with Cooper Rush starting five game. LOL
