That same QB would be a dumpster fire here. This organization doesn't know how to develop QBs.

You think another team wouldn't pay him that? You think he enjoys getting blasted numerous times a game then told how much he sucks? He's trying to be a part of the team that turns us into a winner but people are happy to lay all the teams problems on him.

Again, he’s getting paid FIFTY FIVE MILLION A YEAR! 55! Lmao. It’s part of the job description, the coddling of Trevor needs to end.

He IS a part of the problem. Lets not try to shield and coddle him - hes a big boy making BIG money paid like a top 3 QB that isn't playing like a TOP 25 QB.

Those QB's at the top making that type of money can lift their team up, lets be honest.

Lawrence's fault right?
https://twitter.com/_John_Shipley/status...4515052981

Yeah, it sort of is.  The offense put the defense in awful situations all night with three and outs, failed 4th down conversions, and turnovers.

The defense wasn't good, but the offense certainly has a hand in that.

And when he goes on to light it up elsewhere the same people criticising him will be saying we need a QB like him.

And the depressing cycle repeats.

You won’t need to worry about that.  He’s an expensive career backup.  He may get lucky and do a Kirk Cousins for one season, but I don’t think so.

The defense is dog [BLEEP] bud. We all know that...

We didn't know that Trevor just isn't "it" - and it took me until this year for that determination.

21/38 178 yards 1 TD (garbage time umbrella defense) and 1 INT.

Your so called determination is wrong, but feel free to go off.

The Defense let the Bills go straight down the field with ease on the very first possession before our Offense even touched the football. Save me with that bull [BLEEP].

At this point, it truly is blind homerism.

I have always been a Trevor supporter, hell go look at page 1 of the massive TLaw thread lol - but he is absolutely part of this problem.

But LaWreNce'S fAuLt rIgHT?

1.  Can’t read the defense pre-snap.  Still can’t.
2.  Horrible footwork.  Still horrid.
3.  Zero pocket passing skill.  Still zero.
4.  Over-reliance on his magic arm.  Still the same.

When I first made these arguments, I made them and said TL must overcome these limitations or he’s gone-ski.  I was accused of being a troll who just wanted him to fail.  Au contraire, I wanted him to succeed and overcome these shortcomings.  But the mouth-breathers here can’t handle constructive insight, apparently, so I embraced the troll.  May as well go with what the audience demands, right?

Now I’m just dropping in for the gloat.

As a staunch Jags fan and Trevor supporter, it pains me to say that you had a point but I just wanted to give TLaw the proper time to see if things were different. Turns out, it's a push and shove type of scenario with Trevor and his lack of success here in Jax.

He hasn't been given a good enough supporting cast to make him play good - but I certainly wasn't expecting Trevor to be the type of QB that would have warranted that everyone around him needed to be great for him to play well.

I was sold a false bill of goods.

I'm sorry but were the Jags in the 2nd half of 2022 great? First half of 2023?

Jags offense has never been great. They barely had 1 Pro bowler in since Lawrence has been on the team, and you could argue Lawrence helped Engram accumulate the stats to that last year.

Everyone keeps trying to pin the blame on 1 person.

Football is about the team, the coaches, and the organization. It is never as clear as blame or accolades fall onto one person. If you want that, go watch the NBA or tennis.
TLaw can kiss my [BLEEP].. 55 million times a year.

Sure he's part of the problem, but he's low on the list. Far bigger issues with this team than him.

Exactly. Can we make that a banner on the site. That's what most of us Trevor 'coddlers' are trying to say.
Press conferences are really late. Maybe they all got let loose.

Agreed.

But its time for me to start calling him out. I've honestly had enough and you can refer to my complete support of TLaw from the get-go in that massive thread, but I just believe that he isn't that QB that I thought he was coming out of college.

I thought he would be the type to lift the play of the others around him due to his perceived "great" attributes - but it's been anything but sadly.

I have constantly pointed out the O-line issues for years, made comments about giving him time to get used to the playbook, excuses for injuries and what not - but enough is enough for me. I really hope he can turn it up consistently, but I've seen 4 seasons worth of play that suggests otherwise. He's the type of QB that needs other positions to be at a certain level for him to play well - and that's what I'm starting to notice.

BUT HE ISN'T.

Worst case he is cut in 2029 after $202 total. That is $40 million. That is the rate for guys like Geno and Daniel Jones.

But most likely he can be cut or traded before that after the 2026 season if absolutely necessary which would still be ~$45 a year.

That is the market rate for basically any non-rookie deal starting QB in the league today.
We just gotta coach, teach, and play better.

But that’s the thing, probably still last year I believed that but had my doubts. Now it just kinda seems like he is a bust. In top of that we just inked him to a huge deal. I thought it was ridiculous when everyone was calling him elite last year early on. I’m just beginning to think he isn’t the guy.

Although he has been a big disappointment, I agree with you.

1. General Manager

2. Offensive line

3. Coaching staff

4. Trevor
Did we all forget that Trevor played like garbage for the first part of his second year also?

He's played half of a season of good football in his career. And even then he threw 4 INTs in his only playoff win.

Even last year, his TD numbers were low and the Jags were awful in the red zone before his injuries when things got worse.

Trevor has not been consistently good ONCE in his career.

Some of us have been saying this.

Trevor had about 5-6 games in year two that really looked promising. Exciting games against the cowboys and ravens for example.
The rest of the sample has been mediocre at best.

Every single starting QB makes a nice play here and there. It’s the NFL.
But looking at a very large body of work shows you Trevor is a young mediocre QB with upside. That’s all he is. And I honestly am starting to wonder if that potential he has will ever be unlocked.
The Baguars are back
