Quote:No comments on the close losses, where the offense has lit it up only to have the defense give it back? Works both ways, but carry on with your agenda.
I don't have an agenda. Go back and read my posts this season. I have defended Bortles a lot around these parts
Bortles poor pre-snap reads and in-play decisions are way too up and down. I really hope Olson or the QB coach or some QB guru can help him improve in this area before next season.
If he doesn't, then we'll be drafting another QB in 2017.
The Chargers scored 3 points at home against the Chiefs last week. That's all you need to know about where our defense is.
The two illegal passes were humorous
Anyone pinning this loss on Blake doesn't know football.
"Derr, he threw an INT which lead to a Touchdown! We lost by a touchdown, so it's all on his shoulders!" I mean give me a break. Without Bortles, we're probably not even close to in that game. That game's on the defense. Make all the excuses you like, that's all they are. Excuses. "Well our Defensive players aren't good, so it's obviously Bortles fault we lost" Or maybe it's because our defensive players aren't good. Gee. Ya think?
Quote:This isn't some new phenomenon. We lack the rushers, which in turn leads to less pressures, less sacks, less turnovers. There's a reason they drafted Fowler.
This is the weirdest argument ever. So, because the defense is horrible, the second year , 22 year old QB is expected to make up for the fact that we have zero pass rush or play makers on defense?
Sooooo...obviously he is going to have to take risks, but he should only take risks (to compensate for the atrociously incompetent defense) but not ever make any mistakes (which every WB ever makes)???
Do I have that right?
2nd year 22 year old QB without a defense or consistent running game is the worst? Not oline, dline, lbackers, dbacks, punter, kicker, coaches, assistant coaches fault?
Or is it just easier to blame it on him?
Show me a QB that doesn't make mistakes. Now show me a QB that that doesn't make mistakes with a bad defense and running game and special teams.
How long until Blake is blamed for Hurns concussion?
Quote:Bortles has to play reckless in order for us to have a chance to win. Take the good with the bad right now.
I agree, it's not all on BB5. We have NO run game so the defenses can play back in coverage. He's forced to take a lot of risks. We have to be patient with him, he's got a lot of up side

I have to admit, the first one was bad, but the 2nd one, come on Bortles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quote:They blitzed too. I remember specifically on Gates first TD. Live by the blitz and die by it too.
Yep. They blitzed and looked equally inept when they did. All of our draft picks should be DE's next spring.
why not take away the other teams primary receiver you say? This team can't do it. Not good enough on either line. The linebackers are okay but the secondary is average. On Offense, can't pass block or run block. Bortles is playing above the play of a typical 2nd year player. At least the team has play at the skill positions.

1st one was really bad. He was more than 5 yards past the LOS...the corner closed quickly on him and he panicked.
It's hard to defend pretty much 3000 yards 22 Td's to 13 ints on a team with no running game in his 2nd year.
Can we trade for Gabbert or Put Henne in and go back to getting about 5 first downs?

You brought up the defense not me.
I have no problem with a young QB making mistakes and taking risk. I do have a problem with a QB making the same exact mistakes over and over and over again. Going back to last year you can expect Bortles to make one bone headed throw which will turn into a interception every week. I'm pretty sure he leads the league in pick 6's going back to last year. Today he tries to make a pass after crossing the LOS and on the next drive he DOES THE EXACT SAME THING!!! What is wrong with him?
We have to lineup in the shotgun on 3rd and 1 because we can't pick up a yard running the ball. Blake didn't play well but as long as we can't run the ball there will be more games like this.
yeah he didnt move his eyes which made it easy for Te'o to jump it.
The team's red zone game plan is terrible. It looks like they're playing to get in position for a field goal.
Contrast that with Rivers, who throws for the end zone consistently when he's in the red zone.

Can't agree with that. Bortles constantly missed throws in the end zone today.
Something is wrong when Rivers scrambles for first downs again and again.
Lol Bortles is the best player on the team. Henne putting up 329 pass yards and 2 TD? Hell no.
This thread is a joke. Jags defense is AWFUL. Rivers 300 yards and 4 TDs. Gus' defense couldn't stop Raines or Bolles high school teams
