Quote:So the long drives keeping them off the field don't help?

You don't win many games with field goals.
Live by the Bortles, die by the Bortles. That's what we do while he grows. Future is bright. Just has to get better.

Not when the opponent is consistently marching 80 yards.

Doesn't have anything to do with your "3 FGs doesn't help the defense" comment.

What's a long drive when all you get out of it is 3 points? You've just wasted your offense's time and the defense has little room for error.
Quote:Ben Roethlisberger just threw a pick to a defensive lineman. What trash!

BTW, that pick is going to cost the Steelers the game.
I didnt think it was a bad pick by Blake, this time. He has had some bad ones but this from my view point wasnt one of them.

The defense leaves very little room for error for the offense. What happens if the defense only allows 75% if the performance. It's still a damn good day for SD's offense and yet Blake's mistake isn't as glaring. And Jaguars might win. And that is still with Rivers throwing for 250 and 3 TDs. Think about that.

Or it's the fact their defense allowed Wilson to throw for 345 and 5 TDs while missing numerous tackles.

19 points off turnovers.

Or just don't throw a pick and we win. That one interception cost us 7 points. We lost by 6.

Or if the defense doesn't let Rivers run for 8 yards on 3rd and 7.

I don't know what we're arguing. The D needs to improve. So does Bortles. Agree?

Lol that one interception by Ben did not cost them the game.

That's insane.

That's insane.
It sure didn't help them now did it?

Eliminate that one turnover and you eliminate 7 points from the final score. The game could've went a different direction without that turnover.

Of course I agree. Blake needs to be better in the redzone and cut down on turnovers.

You seem to blame the entire loss on Blake by saying things like " we lost by 6 and that pick led to 7 points"

There's a lot more to the game than that one play.

Bro...you can't be that dense.

Bortles threw for 330 yards two TD's and one INT....let's call it a C+ / B-

Defense allowed 300+ yards, zero turnovers, no passEs defended, practically no pressures or sacks....against backup olinemen and WRs...

What grade do you give that side of the ball, friend? You gonna go ahead and ignore the D's performance and put this loss on Bortles, eh? Smart.
It wasn't one person, or one side of the team's fault. It was a combination of problems.

-settling for FGs instead of converting at least one of those into a TD

-No pass rush

-Secondary struggled

-INT at the end of the half. I don't care what some may say, it was a crucial part to this loss. It was definitely not the only one though. Only down 14-9 with a chance to get more points,, it quickly turns into 21-9. That's a big swing in points/momentum in what should've been a very tight game at halftime.

-Another big crucial part to this loss was the late drive given up by the defense. Down by 5,, defense needed a stop. Instead, they allow a long clock-drowning TD (aided by a 4th down run by Rivers). That was as crucial as the huge point swing at half.

-special teams came up with a big play,, blocking a punt and giving the offense the ball very deep in SD territory. So, that was cool.

This was a team loss by big mistakes from both sides. It just was.

There's a lot to every game besides one play but in every game there are certain plays that are game changers. You've pointed out some just as I have.
