Quote:Remember when those Muslims wanted to build a mosque in NY City?

Talk about pc madness!

Then a BBQ joint called The Pork Palace built next door. Now both sides are freaking out.

We've got gluten free vegan cheese cake over here and I gotta tell you, it's incredibly adequate.

I like cheese cake, but weren't gluten allergies recently proven to be non-existent?

No, I don't think so. Based on your reaction, it sounds like you are a hypocrite that really doesn't care about the constitution--you only care about what you identify as your your clan, and you think those who you do not identify with are not as good as you and your "side"...

It's very anti American... at least base on the way I grew up, it's anti American...

What's wrong with building a mosque in NYC??? This is America, ain't it?

Literally what? Put down the peace pipe.

They can do whatever they want within the power of the law. Doesn't make it any less insensitive. Honestly, it isn't that big a deal, but obviously I upset you.

Nah, Celiacs is real but a recent study was done where like 1/3rd of all non celicas people have no actual gluten intolerance.

This is why I will never register as a Democrat.

Lol, sorry-- I'll calm down a bit. You're right there is no reason to be overly antagonistic about the subject...

I'm not upset. It's just really weird that you think it's insensitive for people to practice their religion in a city they live in... it just confirms my feeling that many people really do buy into the denomization of an entire group of people...

As for the peace pipe, I have a medical prescription for it!!!

I don't need a prescription Tongue

Stop right there!  You want to advocate building a mosque on the very grounds of the 9/11 attack on America by a group of anti American muslims?  Would that not be akin to building a KKK regional office in Selma?

The Klan is a hate group. All of its members support violence towards black people.

Islam is a religion. Few of its members support the actions of al Qaeda.

Your comparison would be valid if someone wanted to build an AQ office on Ground Zero.

Please present your evidence the builders of the proposed Islamic community center were anti-American.

It was never meant to be a mosque, that rumor got started when it was revealed to include a prayer room. According to Wikipedia, the original design included a "...500-seat auditorium, theater, a performing arts center, a fitness center, a swimming pool, a basketball court, a childcare area, a bookstore, a culinary school, an art studio, a food court, and a memorial to the victims of the September 11 attacks." A majority of the the space was intended to promote interfaith dialogue. Something of which you might benefit.

The latest plan is for a 3 story museum and will include a prayer room and condos.

A very American project.

Innocent Muslims were killed in the 9/11 attacks, as well as many foreigners. The proposed building cannot even be seen from the WTC site.

Oh well, haters gonna hate.

If all Muslims hate America because a few do, then all white people join the KKK in hating African-Americans.

You are right, my comparison is not perfect but the sentiment is still valid.

Where did I state that they were?

Really now?  Where did you get the idea I am against all Muslims?

I really have not followed this story that closely and did not know that.  I was responding in general to the idea of building a mosque at the World Trade Center site.

Oh well, haters gonna hate.

I know and I wish you would stop.
You continue interjecting your wrong assumptions into replies of my post.  Do we have a problem?

That's my fault, I misinterpreted the following as meaning you thought the developers were anti-American, not the attackers. My apologies.

As I posted, it is not nor was it ever intended to be a mosque.

That's your ignorance showing, my friend... from the best of my recollection the Muslims that that wanted the building were not anti American...
