Agreed, I think they end up with these numbers:
Offense (25): QB (2), RB (4), WR (6), TE (4), OL (9).
Defense (25): DL (10), LB (6), CB (5), S (4).
Special Teams (3): K (1), P (1), LS (1).

The same issue is coming down with the CBs, where Nick Marshall is really flashing. His size at 6'1, 210 lbs says FS, but his footwork says CB. Marshall is fast in reaction and is not afraid to come into the fray. Given the trend of large WRs (like Neal Sterling) Nick Marshall is that sleeper CB that may end up being a future star for the Jags.
He is complete with Jeremy Harris, who seems to be putting it all together as the other 7th Rd CB taken with Demetrius McCray.
Colvin and House are playmakers.
Gratz is now the dime CB, but his roster spot is not guaranteed.

Havent been to a practice yet but plan on going friday but from what yall can tell could gratz potentially be in danger of losing his spot? Also, in regards to the 4th TE spot do yall think it will be koyack or jacobs?
Edit: Thanks Stigma

Why not Marshall at FS? Its not like Brown or Sample have that spot locked down, whereas the CB spot is already crowded. Marshall's experience as a QB should make him adapt easier and be able to know zone responsibilities better. I believe Scott Frost made a similar transition (QB to FS) and he often cited his time at QB knowing not only how to play zone, but where QBs like to go against certain zones (because he was one).
We already have talented CBs. If Marshall can be our Earl Thomas, that single-high FS? This team defense goes up a notch.

All I know is what my lying eyes tell me I am seeing and what I am seeing is Nick Marshall lining up as the strong side CB in place of Davon House. This guy is good.
One thing I forgot to mention but I believe needs to be mentioned is the play of Allen Hurns. With all the talk about Marqise Lee, Hurns is that big bodied WR that just catches balls in traffic and can take a lickin and keep on tickin.
Hurns and Allen Robinson are your top 2 WRs for a reason.
When you see the offensive weapons the Jags have and hear all this talk about running the ball, it is not hard to see the Jags tailoring a West Coast type of dink and dunk offense that marches down the field in 8 to 12 plays and then scores, hopefully TDs.
Remember back in the day when Garrard and MJD doing the same thing leading the Jags to the Playoffs in 2005?
Ball control can be a QB's best friend and with a little bit of the mad bomber in Bortles, the Jags may be building something very similar to what the Packers have had for the past 15 years.

Thanks to everyone for these updates!!
Bummer about Lee. But it's good to hear that hurns is picking up where he left off last year.

Doubt Gratz will be cut. Someone will be injured, opening up a spot at least temporarily. Even with Gene gone, the Jags still make use of IR to stash players.

Does anyone else like what they are hearing out of camp thus far? I want to make sure I am not alone in encouragement/myopia about the progress of this team.

The radio guys are, dare I say, oozing with cautionary optimism.

With Lee down I'm expecting 0-16

Whoa! Slow down big guy. Yesterday he was a quarterback. If he can make the practice squad that will be a remarkable achievement. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

If he's oozing on the Jags and not the Steelers and Gators then we should be ecstatic.

The difference in talent level from when Dave and Gus took over until now is amazing. Dave brought in the right guys and Gus appears to be that talent developer that Dave thought he was. Hope it holds true during the season.
It's ok to be excited, right?

Stigma's talking about him starting at CB ahead of House. I was only speaking that if he's progressing that well, why not try him at FS? And as I mentioned, there's a precedent for QB -> FS transition in the NFL.

This is how the game is played. Literally every camp around the country is "hearing good things"
