Quote:This is pretty interesting. Wonder if Wis's shoulder is holding him back or if Bowanko has turned a corner. I'd actually prefer Bowanko if he's got the talent and the ability since it'd be another great draft signing by Caldwell.
My guess would be Wiz starts next week. Maybe Bowanko as the incumbent gets first start.

I thought Bowanko looked ok at times last year. He seemed to struggle with reading the defense and making adjustments and call out the right audible, and seemed to struggle with strength at times. We will see how he does against Pittsburgh.
Quote:Was looking forward to watching Yeldon. He broke a finger or something like that, right? Gives Denard the opportunity to snatch the job away.
Not even a break. Probably more a precaution than anything.

The word was to let Luke start one game, then Wiz start the other. The winner being 'announced' prior to the third game, and they will get the majority of the snaps prior to the home opener.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Wiz probably starts game two and they likely make a decision by game three.
It's the first pre-season game. I'd venture to say that there is a lot that isn't set in stone.

Exactly. The starting line we trot out there in the 3rd preseason game will more than likely be the same group that's sitting on the sideline watching game 4.

My best guess is that Gus will start the 5 linemen he wants to go with in game 4/season opener. Just for a series or two, to get the mental reps and prepare for games together.
Yep. First two games they will be seeing how the guys play as "groups."
By third game, they start "setting" the starting group.

I agree and I think Bowanko will be very good in a year or two. another year is to learn Olsens system and get stronger and look out.

I expect Wiz to win the battle, atleast to start the season. I feel Bortles would be more successful with a veteran at center, atleast initially. Excited to see how good the right side of the line will be, and worried about the left side lol.
Bowanko has an edge due to Bortles familiarity with him. They have pretty much had a whole season and offseason working together.

I have to agree with haveaseat that Bowanko has the early lead as incumbent and familiar commodity.
But before the end of the season, he could lose that role if Wiz outplays him significantly and Wiz shows his injury is completely behind him. If he beats out Bo and the injury returns, it could be a short ride.
Generally speaking, I don't think Bo is as bad as some may think (many seemed to think Meester was bad and they weren't correct, either.) But he must continue to get better.

I see it almost exactly opposite. To the OC, Wiz is the familiar commodity. I see him starting the season and Bowanko overtaking at some point in the future.
