Some guys are just snake bitten. Hopefully it's something he gets out of the way early in his career and he's able to become more durable over time. Worked out pretty well for a guy like Jimmy Smith.
Quote:On Kouvaris' twitter page, there was footage of Bortles throwing a TD to Rashad Greene.

Nice throw between both safeties. Almost intercepted but accurate delivery. A little off his back foot that made the ball sail but nice concentration by the Greene. We'll see if he can do it game time...
@BrentASJax: Julius Thomas coming right at ya! @Jaguars

@mike_e_kaye: Bortles throws as Julius Thomas makes a sliding catch near the sideline. #teamsidelibe

@mike_e_kaye: Telvin Smith with a very nice stop on a Gerhart run.
@mike_e_kaye: Yeldon breaks through a LaRoy Reynolds tackle for a big gain.
@mike_e_kaye: Mike Bennett just absolutely blew up Luke Bowanko during an 11 on 11 passing play with Henne at QB.
@mike_e_kaye: Bortles with a pass to Benn. Catch on McCray. #teamsideline

@mike_e_kaye: Bortles with an absolutely outstanding throw downfield to Hurns who was blanketed by Colvin. Best throw I've ever seen him make. Caught btw.
@mike_e_kaye: Tyson Alualu has looked fantastic today. Already a sack and few pressures.
@mike_e_kaye: Nice pbu from Nick Marshall on Tony Washington.
@mike_e_kaye: Bryan Walters continues his impressive day. Clearly, he's reading my roster predictions for motivation. #t...

@mike_e_kaye: Zane and Joeckel holding own vs Alualu, Davis in individuals. Cann vs Bennett was awesome, split it.
@mike_e_kaye: Chris Smith owned Austin Pasztor on back to back drills...#teamsideline

@mike_e_kaye: Smith now abusing Williams. He's a bad man. Where you at Clem? ☕

@mike_e_kaye: Bortles to Benn again. #teamsideline
https://t.co/TyXTesCHdy
@mike_e_kaye: Bortles with a nice TD throw to Rashad Greene over in traffic. Good day for BB5. #teamsideline
https://t.co/Lye6SelMje
@mike_e_kaye: Nice hold on Colvin for clear TD for ARob
@HaysCarlyon: Takeaways from today: Bortles was electric, Julius Thomas has unreal hands and Hurns is so savvy.
All positive stuff!!
(Except for Lee, of course)
Good to here about Joeckel. Seems to be getting better every practice. Marrone will get him right
Chris Smith had a really good day it seemed and so did Bryan Walters/Benn if Clemons doesnt get back soon and Smith keeps getting pressure than he might have a shot. Also, looks like we are gonna have to cut a decent WR or 2
I just want to be completely shocked this season... In a good way of course.. We as fans deserve it!
any word on Skuta and/or the safeties?
Skuta has been consistent. He was in the backfield often today and it seems to be a reoccurring theme. Todays standout was Smith. On pass rush drills he was putting on a clinic. in general, the D-line looks nasty and strong. Of course there is always the exception and that seems to have been Odrick. He is a massive dude, but is playing pretty weak in practice. He didn't look good at all today.
One thing I noticed at practice today, was the tendency to line the blocking TE next to Luke Joeckel rather than on the strong side next to Jeremy Parnell.
BTW, rushing Parnell is like trying to get through a King size mattress. He just envelopes the rusher and it is over before it begins.
Watched that happen to Ryan Davis, Chris Smith and Andre Branch.
Thought Joeckel handled Andre Branch real well.
Guy to keep an eye on is Josh Wells backup OLT. He may beat out Pasztor (backup ORT) as the swing OT - 8th OLineman.
The secondary seems to be playing tighter in coverage, but so far none of them make you say "wow!

We will see come game time
Other observations:
3rd TE = Clay Harbor - very much involved in a lot of plays will be in 3 TE sets - perhaps as an H-Back
4th TE = Ben Koyack - has a tendency to jump to catch ball then immediately fall down after catching the ball.
Arrelious Benn very much in the 5th WR picture but as big as Benn is Neal Sterling is bigger and he moves and cuts like a small WR.
All the other WRs are small guys
Davon House is he real deal in coverage.
Nick Marshall could end up beating out Jeremy Harris for the 5th CB spot
Question: How many Dlineman make this roster? 8, 9 or 10?
Odrick, Marks, Miller, Davis, Alualu, Bennett, Jones, Clemons
leaving Hood, Branch, Smith
this is going to be a tough call.

Regarding the D-Line...
Sucks that we have to cut a couple of these guys, but at the same time a good problem to have.

I wonder if they just happened to work on those particular formations with that feature, or is that a sign they think Joeckel may need some help.
I am rooting like heck for Joeckel to be that stud LT that we don't have to worry about, but he isn't there yet.
