HERE WE GO JAGUARS, HERE WE GO... Man, I remember back in the day leaving the stadium and getting everyone pumped singing this. We would have the whole walk way singing it... I miss those days...

Awesome memories. Distant, but awesome.
I used to love starting the " O-VER-RATED" chant, it gets opposing fans so mad.
I am tempering my expectations untill after the 1st Pre-season game. At which point I will probably be saying BB5 is HOF material and we're playoff bound.
It worked well for me last year. Figured I'll keep that roll going.
There definitely has been a change in Blake.More confident and comfortable.I expect him to read defenses and coverages better also.
Quote:The difference in talent level from when Dave and Gus took over until now is amazing. Dave brought in the right guys and Gus appears to be that talent developer that Dave thought he was. Hope it holds true during the season.
It's ok to be excited, right?
Absolutely, my friend.. or atleast that's what I keep telling myself.

Well, the overwhelming consensus-not just from Jaguars fans but from outside observers as well-is that the past two Jaguars drafts have been excellent. If that assessment is true, then it stands to reason this team will look better than it has in recent years past. I am among those who feel the past two drafts were excellent, so that represents part of the basis for my excitement. Another part of the basis for excitement were some of the free agent acquisitions. Just about every QB you can think of had that security blanket of a receiving threat over the middle to go to when the chips are down and you need to convert that 3rd and 6. Jaguars QBs haven't had that in quite some time. Julius Thomas represents that guy. The other free agent signings this year seem solid. Finally, the other basis for my excitement is that based upon everything I have seen with my own eyes, read, and heard from observers at training indicates improvement.
What gives me pause is the old axiom that "everyone is a contender in preseason." Every year, we Jags fans are hopeful that this is the year we can turn things around, and there is a part in everyone that wants to ignore all of the warts and see only the best. Fact is, this team is 14-50 since 2011. Despite our best wishes, this team hasn't come close to our hopes on the field. Despite having these past two drafts, despite the free agent hauls, this team has yet to do it on the field.
It is okay to be excited. It's the fans' prerogative. It's the fans' inclination. It's the fans' impulse. It is seemingly inevitable based upon the past two off seasons. But for me getting excited about this team is kinda akin to the mild anxiety you get when you are walking around normally and suddenly feel the urge to pat yourself down to ensure you still have your keys and wallet with you. It's the abiding sense you-and the team-might be missing something important.
That's deep. Through thick and thin. Makes thick sweeter. Go Jags.
Hard to believe "training camp" is technically half over. Then it's just back to preseason and normal practices.
I'm always excited for the new seasons. But I long for the day that I can say I am a fan of a great team and I believe that I'll be able to say that soon. Maybe not thus season, as I think 1 more season will be needed to be a "playoff" team. This year I think we end with something like 6-10 or 7-9. Improvement and the losses we do get will be close games. I'll be happy if we can lose within 10 in any of the big time teams like the Colts.

Crazy. Coming so fast to me also. First game is in 8 days!
Going to the Giant game the following week

This sounds about right.
Thing is, I think we can get at least splits with Tennessee and Houston, and if things bounce just right, maybe even Indy.
Houston, especially if Clowney returns healthy, can have a potentially dominant defense. But with no QB, and if Foster is out, they have no credible running attack. Hopkins is a good young WR, but outside of him, I don't know if they have anyone that really scares teams. I think with some improvement from our offense, we may be able to steal a game from them.
Tennessee really doesn't have a particularly dominant offense or defense. Mariota is getting raves for his training camp thus far, but he is a rookie and has done nothing yet. Last year, we should have swept them. With a more experienced and talented team, we should sweep them this year.
Indy is kind of the opposite of Houston. They have the dominant offense, but defensively they aren't that hot. But the thing is, as good as their offense is, last year, in Indy, our defense played them very well. If we can get another game like that against them defensively, I think offensively we can do more than we did last year.
Quote:Thanks for this. I had been looking to see if they did this or rescheduled.
Reschedule? For Jacksonville? Just because they didn't actually get to see the team practice? Nah, just write something about not actually observing anything and move on to teams that merit coverage.
Training camp is half over? That's pretty sad.

Yeah, that article did not say anything. Got nothing out of reading that.
I liked how they only felt like talking about half our FA signings... because I guess Jermey Parnell, Dan Skuta, and Sergio Brown aren't relevant.
Emily Kaplan needs a fact checker...
Davon House did not play for Seattle and has never played for Gus.

Yeah. The whole thing seemed pretty phoned in. I hope King writes something of substance on the Jags at some point for SI.
