Quote:How can you not manage a contract for the kicker? Speaking of which, didn't we franchise Scobee before? We need McCourty
The kicker tag costs so little that it's often just easier to tag him than work out a long-term deal. We did franchise Scobee once.
Quote:Could not Suh or Marks kick out to play the Red Bryant end?
Suh can play anywhere, but in the article Bullseye posted, it goes over how Detriot slid him outside a lot of times.
I'd still play him at DT though. Bryant/Suh/Marks/Clemons (I'm hoping for Leonard Williams/Suh/Marks/Clemons)

Ndamukong Suh has been used at DE on occasion, Not only this past season when Teryl Austin became Defensive Coordinator but previously when the Lions had the Jim Schwartz- Defensive Coordinator Gunther Cummingham combo running the Defense.
I realize that the Red Bryant DE position is different than the responsibilities Suh had when used at DE for the Lions. Yet, I'm convinced Suh is more than capable of playing the position. Having expressed all of this, I don't think it would be maximizing Suh's value if he played the Red Bryant DE position a large portion of the time. Considering the type of contract it will take to sign Suh, efficiency in how he's used should be a major part of the equation for the Jaguars or any team that ends up signing him.

Yea I was more pointing out to the people asking what we would do with both Suh/Marks together. We would play both of them at the same time with one being the Red Bryant End.
You would know better than most but how is Suh in the run game...if we were to run a Suh/Marks DT set....would we be giving up too much in the run game?

How would you feel//think about a line of Marks//Suh//Shelton//Clemons. (If Williams is gone and no trade back for Mariota)

I think Shelton could be an option. I'm not sure if I would take him at #3 though.
I don't see the Jags pursuing Suh. I wouldn't mind it, but I doubt it happens.
So many other gaping holes in the roster, D tackle is one of our only strengths.

I totally agree.
Obviously people would love it if he came here but I don't think he's a top Caldwells list.

Ndamukong Suh is tremendous against the run. A strong case can be made that run Defense is his greatest strength, literally and figuratively. The last two seasons, the Lions have been one of the best teams against the run in the NFL, with the Lions leading the way against the run in 2014. The Lions averaged giving up less than 70 yards per game against the run, which is one of the best totals in the NFL this century. Suh is the # 1 reason why the Lions were by far # 1 against the run in 2014. Even with starting DT Nick Fairley missing the final 8 regular season games and the road playoff game against the Cowboys, in the vast majority of those games, the Lions were very effective against the run, A rare exception was the regular season finale loss in Green Bay. That's a game that not having Fairley was felt, when comparing the havoc Suh and Fairley caused in the win vs. Green Bay in Week # 3.

I would love it. Not really sure I'd take him #3 though... I haven't seen enough of his tape. Maybe Fowler instead, but I have to watch more of his tape as well.

Foxsports Alex Marvez on what a deal for Suh may cost.
If the Jaguars want Ndamukong Suh enough, they can afford to give him this type of contract. The same with the Raiders.
I think one of the key questions that many have touched on is do these teams want to spend very heavily on a couple of FA's or do they prefer to get several more FA's that won't come cheap but won't break any contract records? Like the article you posted in another thread touched upon, one way or another, the salary cap space needs to be used in the next couple of years.
Alfie does a complete 180 and now is on board with signing Suh. He offers this as a potential contract structure:

If this is the offer Ndamukong Suh ends up signing for and it's not with the Lions, it will further reinforce my opinion that the Lions didn't handle the Suh situation well. IMO, the Jaguars should jump at the opportunity to sign Suh if these are the contract terms.
I dont think the Jags land Suh in the end. But they will be in the conversation. Landing him would be such a coup for this franchise.

I think that offer will be more as a baseline. If a bidding war happens, and I fully expect one to, he'll be getting much more than that.

I think there's at least a pretty good chance that this plays out the way you described.
The harder part is accurately predicting how many teams will end up in a full fledged bidding war, if one transpires. Not to mention, which teams?
