Quote:I guess if it happens I will learn to embrace the nastiness. Dude is dirty for reals tho.
This is how I feel. I can't stand the man, but he's got legit skills.
Quote:I can see all sorts of reasons to get excited about the possibility of signing Suh, but then again, I keep thinking, is this the way New England built their team?  No.

Has breaking the bank for a free agent ever worked for anyone?   I can't think of a case where it has.

The emotional fan in me wants a shortcut to success, but logic says that building a great team takes time and patience (drafting).   There just aren't any shortcuts.
New England has been signing big name free agents every season for the past 4 or 5 seasons.  Maybe longer.

And our "draft and develop" way is really working for us isn't it?

Go after Suh, It doesn't matter to me how much he makes.
Quote:And what has the team done?

Nada.

THAT is the point. You don't spend that kind of money unless his play results in TEAM success which is why I specifically mentioned QB.

Had their first winning season in 10 years.  Managed a Top 5 defense, and nearly made the playoffs.  If they get an average QB, they may very well be playoff contenders next year.   I know I'd take it.

Low goals.

Almost.

It's not Williams' fault they have been poor at QB.

What are you so afraid of?

I don't have the figures, but I don't believe the Saints signed Brees for a ludicrous amount of money from SD.

My apologies didn't see the QB statement. Was quickly glancing, also brees signed for about 10m a year which was quite a large amount.
Quote:That's the thing people seem to forget. You might make a case for a QB, but a defensive player...

Revis worked out pretty well for patriots.

You're REALLY going to compare the Pats to the Jaguars?

Even if he did sign for a ludicrous amount of money, would it have been a poor decision by the Saints?  Of course not.

This is such a DUMB statement and it's just hilarious when people say it.

Well what are you afraid of?

Money was exactly the point of the discussion.

AND AS I SAID...QB might be considered the exception.

Sorry I didn't realise the statement was 'has breaking the bank worked out for anyone, except the current super bowl champions'

I'm sorry. But you can't compare a consistent contender to the Jaguars situation.
Quote:Well what are you afraid of?

I don't like lightning or snakes.
Quote:I'm sorry. But you can't compare a consistent contender to the Jaguars situation.
Maybe they are consistent contenders because of their free agents signing? Or do you merely pick and choose what statistics you use?

Also that is a ridiculous statement, because when brought up about williams you said they haven't done anything, so you're basically saying we can't mention good free agents because they go to good teams that win, which then only leaves the bad free agents signing to bad teams which completely reinforces your statement because of picking and choosing what you look at.
