So Suh is not going to be Franchised by the Lions.
What kind of contract will he be looking for?
Let's use the JJ Watt contract as a starting point.
Year Salary Bonuses Cap Hit
2015 9.969 Mil 12 Mil 21.969 Mil
2016 10.5 Mil 2 Mil 12.5 Mil
2017 10.5 Mil 2 MIl 12.5 Mil
2018 11 Mil 2 MIl 13 Mil
2019 13 Mil 13 Mil
2020 15.5 Mil 15.5 Mil
2021 17.5 Mil 17.5 Mil
So JJ Watt got a 7 year deal for 106 Mil - averaging 15.14 Mil
What will Suh get?
I say 6 years for 110 Mil or 18.33 Mil/yr average
If the money is paid upfront like it was done with JJ Watt then the cap hit will decrease after the 1st year.
Suh is 28 years old - so his prime years are say the next 4 years.
I think he will want $75 Mil guaranteed over the first 4 years (or 18.75 Mil/yr average)
This is doable for the Jags

It is pretty crazy that a few months back, nobody wanted Suh on the roster. Now that it is actually a possibility, people seem to be changing their tune a little bit.
My only fear with Suh is he gets fat and happy like Albert Haynesworth did when he got paid.
I'd be curious to see the percentage of players who perform at the same level after getting mega contracts. I'm sure this is part of Tony's analytics that will help determine if Suh is a good fit here.

Unlike fat albert, Suh endorses Subway.. Maybe he still eats fresh..

I think Mario Williams has lived up to his contract with the Buffalo Bills.

For every Mario, there is a Fat Albert. Do you roll the dice?

Wow, I just threw up in my mouth.

If the Jags signed Suh, would you move SenDerrick Marks to the 5 Tech plus rotate with Suh at the 3 spot.

The problem was, everybody thought Jeans Miff was so smart because he hit on Terrance Knighton in the 3rd and everybody just assumed he was smarter than every other GM at the time. Even though people didn't know who AluAlu was when we drafted him, there was blind trust in Jean.

There were also those who argued Derek Cox was better than Revis because PFF said so.

If it was my choice to make, I'd make it a steady rotation between Marks, Miller, and Suh with a little Hood and Jones sprinkled in at both DT positions. I'd have no problem with a DT combination of Suh (3) and Miller (0/1), Suh (0/1) and Marks (3), and Marks (3) and Miller (0/1).

I don't think Jacksonville would benefit from this signing to be honest. We aren't at that point of the rebuild where a signing like this would make a huge difference in the W/L column. I'd prefer they get more free agents.

If somebody said you could sign Ndamukong Suh, or you could sign Devin McCourty and Randall Cobb for the same price, I would take McCourty and Cobb every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I'd rather see the team sign 2 high quality talents rather than 1 super high talent.

We have entered the TWILIGHT ZONE and REALITY has nothing to do with this period of time.
This period of time will pass, but right now, ANYTHING is POSSIBLE and HOPE springs ETERNAL!

I would take Suh over a combo of McCourty and Cobb.

If we do sign Suh and Leonard is on the board, do we still take him? I would.

Suh might have a bigger impact on the Jags Defense than what either McCourty and Cobb could do for this team.
Suh is potentially that impactful of a player.

He's one of the best interior DL the league has seen in 25-30 years.
