Love when people qualify their statement with it wasn't all Henne's fault like anybody said it was. Henne sucks regardless of the line situation. All seven years he's been in the league his lines haven't been bad and what has he done? Doesn't matter if he had all Hall of Famers at every position he would still find a way to screw up the job. This line will get better throughout the year. Gerhart is not worth the money he was given either but we're stuck with him. Dude has no vision.
Quote:Jay Cutler sacked seldom
Matt Ryan sacked seldom and even before they drafted a LT in the first round this year
Matt Ryan was sacked 9 times in a game against Carolina last year.
He sucks.
Quote:Exactly. It got to a point where there was no bluffing from the blitzers. We knew they were coming and decided to just try max protect and wait for the receivers to get open. That crap doesn't work very often. There are ways to exploit a blitz other than just trying to block.
I remember they put their entire front 7 on the line of scrimmage with us in a spread formation.
The formation alone left Henne with no option but to hope one of the rookie receivers ran a proper hot route. They didn't. Sack.
The play calling needed to counter the blitz. It was foolish to think all these inexperienced players would make the correct adjustments to counter the blitz on their own.
Inflexible play calling. I think that is what Washington noticed from the second half of the eagles game. The jags would stick to the same play calling regardless of the looks the defense gave them.
how long do you people expect Henne to be back there?? lol
HEY LOOK GUYS, THERE'S A WIDE OPEN RECEIVER!! and i believe Henne took a sack on this play, if i'm not mistaken
Quote:how long do you people expect Henne to be back there?? lol
The only thing that graph shows is that all those QBs were given a lot more time on average before they got sacked than Henne got on Sunday.
Why don't you show Henne's full stats? That way we can make a fair comparison.

The fact that you think there's a wide open receiver says a lot. I just rewatched this play. Two seconds after the ball hits his hands, not seeing anyone open for his 3 primary options and getting pressure from the right side he scrambles to the left but gets tripped outside the pocket.
Quote:Did you watch this play?
The ball is snapped at 12:37. From the shotgun, with a 4 step drop, Henne had the ball for all of 3 seconds when the rush was on top of him. We don't see the receivers in the capture above, but it's quite possible that even though they were more than 5 yards down field after 3 seconds, they probably weren't open, right? I guess Henne should have just chucked it out there based on your keen analysis of this play. Your capture shows 12:35. If you'd shown 12:34, that probably would have ruined it for your entire argument on this play.
Jabbert has ruined your ability to comprehend acceptable football. After watching all these sack replays, I'm convinced henne played a part in Blaine's lack of pocket presence. Watch it, he falls into the fetal position.....
Based on the still shot provided, one can see that Henne had options to get rid of the ball to an OPEN wide receiver, but didn't recognize who was open... Thus he was sacked when the pressure got to him.
The henne apologists will not accept facts for an answer lol

I don't know if they are not accepting facts, but it does appear that the arguement that the line is horrible is a half truth...
Yes, the line is weak. But a better QB would be able to recognize where the pressure is coming and get the ball out to the open reciever.
I said this in another thread, but I'll say it here too. NFL Primetime showed a few of the sacks Henne took. One one sack, he was looking right an Marquies Lee was open and was ready for the ball. But Henne held it too long and the line broke down. On another play, he had the RB in the flat with room to run. Again, he held the ball too long, thus a sack.
If a QB knows that the line can only hold for a short amount of time, he should be looking for the quickest out. It's what good QBs do. I mean, there's no hot read? There's no pre-snap communication that hey, get ready, cuz I gotta chuck this rock before I get destroyed? And where's the OC telling Henne to get rid of the ball quicker? It really is a failure on on fronts, O-Line, QB, OC.
With that said, Henne's not changing. And I'm not sure how much more good experience BB5 is getting watching from the sideline. Maybe by next week they'll feel comfortable with letting Bortles get the start. I just think it's time to give him the real life reps so he can learn to acclimate his internal clock to the pressure at the NFL level.

Your condition is called "Missionitis"
What ever it takes to complete your mission
Incomplete Data.
Gotta do something NOW........
Do something, Do anything......
Sunday was a Perfect Storm of our week points being exposed, repeatedly.
Let's see what happens this week.
Yes I want to see Bortles.
I don't want to see him killed.

If BB5 is better at reading defenses, at figuring out where the open receiver is in a blitz situation, at not holding on to the ball, he probably won't get killed.
On top of that, Henne was sacked 10 times, and I'm pretty sure he still has a pulse...
I was on the "wait for the O-Line to gel" bandwagon too. I also don't want out QB to be destroyed back there. But I think I've seen enough of Henne. I just don't think all those sacks were completely on the O-Line. I could be wrong. I'm not saying I know better than anyone on this MB. But just from the few replays I've seen this morning (couldn't sleep) I thought there were sacks that could have been avoided if Henne would have recognized where the single coverage was.... Or where the outlet RB was... And then hucking and chucking the ball out of there. He just didn't recognize what was happening around him.
"Fisch definitely deserves some scrutiny here." Why ??
1. If he has had to scale back the playbook because of youth
2. the offense cant execute what he Is calling even scaling back
3.wr's running wrong routes in the double digits , from gus.
4.toby cant make a play on his own (good rbs can create)
5.the qb lack of ability to call audibles at the line
6. 13 sacks in 2 games is not running your O.C' s. offense.
I would like to have stats on how many times chad has
audibled these first 2 games, & what that success rate is.
All jed can do is call it in. The qb runs the offense.
Also What the league average is of qb changing plays as well.
My ninja anchorman with the homerun hitter post.
I'd credit henne with about 6-7 of those sacks. The thing is, that the henne apologists are one - sighted. Anyone who understands football understands that a good QB masks inefficiencies on the Ol and everywhere else for that matter. I'm smart enough to recognize that the OL has issues but I'm also smart enough to know that with a better QB, the line will look that much better.
The QB sets protections, identifies the defense, goes through his progressions mentally, and understands where his hot read will be. Henne does none of that good. Having the right QB do the right things pre - snap automatically makes the OL look better
Quote:I haven't analyzed all of their stats to know how they average QB fault for sacks. I'm simply posting what they provided for this game.
To be fair after two games during regular season Chad's stats arent that bad... he's ranked #27th in the NFL with a 81.8 rating (thanks to Hurns first game against the Eagles)...
he actually leads the NFL in a category (SACKS)
He's thrown an average of 6.46 yards per attempt (I know how much TMD likes that stat category) & he's 53% comp...
I expect he'll probably thorw more interceptions this week though...
Quote:how long do you people expect Henne to be back there?? lol
I figure 3 of Henne's sacks were his fault without question, and one or two others are very questionable as he couldve thrown the ball away. That being said 5 of them were obivously poor blocking by the Oline and that is why Bradley made adjustments during the game in hopes of improving that situation.
I dont feel that Chad Henne is a great or even good QB but he's not the worst either.... Our running backs arent total garabage but they arent playing like starters... are Oline has potential but is failing miserably...
and thats just the Offense the Defense has major problems too....
oh and dont forget the coaches... bad play calling... poor use of timeouts... not having the team prepared....
The team is a mess and we were promised improvement during this offseason...
I really hope Gus gets this team corrected & fired up to play against the Colts... I want a win!

Just because somebody disagrees with your opinion of Henne as the worst QB ever does not make them an apologist. Henne has some limitations and is better suited as a backup and nobody disagrees with that. If anything, the fans who hold the naive belief that changing the QB equation magically fixes everything are the ones who need educating.
