Quote:And Buffalo was never going to trade with the Jags.
They were waiting to see if the Jags took the guy they wanted (Watkins). If they did, no trading up. If they didn't, then try to trade up to a range where it's reasonable.
That makes no sense.
If Buffalo wanted Watkins they would want the Jags to NOT TAKE HIM. If that's the case, the easiest way to ensure that would have been to trade with the Jags. The cost would have been the same.
I re joined this forum tonight after being gone a while , just to say we now have a REAL man potential at QB not a man-zeil or flabbert . Please you people who call yourself fans , I have been a fan since the begininng , It's people who start threads like these that make me ashamed to live in this city. BTW I've lived here for 38 years ! GO Jags , Dave and Gus , great pick !
Quote:When this pick is blasted by the national media we will say they are all wrong.
Quote:Mayock said Alualu was his favorite pick in the draft. How did that work
So, what is it? Are you against their opinion or do you support it?
Great pick. Ticks off many boxes. Big Roethlisberger type....which is what we need with Clowney coming at our QB twice a season. We needed a QB and Bortles was the best of this year's crop...plus he's coming from an Orlando market....smart business move.
What is there not like about any of this? It all makes total sense.
Quote:Uhh...no.
I hated the Alualu pick.
I was wrong on Gabbert.
Newsflash: EVEN THE BEST NFL GMs miss. Ozzie Newsome missed on Kyle Boller.
Every GM missed on Russell Wilson at least twice, and Brady at least 5 times.
In the past 5 years regardless of who mad the picks, who has this franchise been right on so far
Quote:Clearly, clowns are in your wheelhouse.
Im glad you are a better joke teller than independent thinker Mr. I agree with anything the league's worst frnchise tells me
Quote:In the past 5 ears regardless of who mad the picks, who has this franchise been right on so far
How are the past 5 year's picks relevant to this pick, other than the fact that Gene Smith's miss on Gabbert made the Bortles selection necessary, and the constant misses during this time put Jacksonville in a position to draft him?
Quote:Jesus dude... we had a promising draft last year along with a free agency where we found some solid contributors without wild spending. It seems that we had yet another solid free agency without wild spending. Jury still out, obviously(see previous post about patience) but from all early indications looks good.
And I'd love to spend the rest of the night in a [BAD WORD REMOVED] contest with you but I just remembered why I rarely come back to this board.
I rarely come to the board for the same reason. The blind homers think that this 4-12 team is so great. We didnt sign one difference maker in free agency. Beadles is overpaid to be avg at best
Quote:The m in mtown must stand for moron.
Maybe the m stands for mother as in you figure the rest out
Quote:So, what is it? Are you against their opinion or do you supportIm showing how fickle the blind homers are

I haven't trashed the Bortles pick, but anyone who has read my posts over the past few years can tell you I don't think this team is great by any stretch.
It is my team.
I love it.
I want the best for it.
But it isn't a great roster at all.

THe same way Shack was terrible and we made excuse for Gene the same way Gene sucked and we are making excuses for Dave. ANyone notice a pattern.

Well, it's clear this team is ascending. Looking at last year's record without acknowledging the changes that are happening is the definition of "blind". Moreover, I've never understood how people can hate the team they say they're a fan of so bitterly. If I were honestly that that full of bitterness towards my team, I think I'd find a new team to follow.
Just can't seem to wipe the bad taste of Blaine Gabbert out of the mouth, eh?
We need Bortles on the field right away. None of this double-standard stuff cuts it.
Get the quarterback first, then build the offense around him, they said.
We aren't going to draft another elite, franchise offensive tackle this year, they said.
Our entire existence depends upon drafting a new quarterback, they said.
It's all Gabbert's fault, they said.
Blaine sucks, they said.
Caldwell and Bradley need to prove they aren't yellow. The only way is to start Bortles right away. What could possible go wrong? He's the third over-all pick and we can't do a thing with him?
Now maybe drafting Jake Matthews instead is beginning to make sense? Too late to listen now. This draft was the Real McCoy.
See, you're learning. You're learning.

1. Shack rebuilt a team that had 3 straight losing seasons and was salary cap strapped and took them to the playoffs. He was only terrible with his first round picks.
2. Gene smith sucked, and I didn't make excuses for him.
3. What excuses am I or anyone else making for Caldwell?!?
4. If the Jaguars had taken your guy Manziel, how would the dynamic be any different? He'd have absolutely zero help around him. He'd still be inexperienced. The team would still be a long way away.

I can agree and respect fans like you. Its the guys who thinks that anyone who disagrees with one of the worst franchises in the league is a idiot. I am still a Jags fan. I just would like to compete and be nationally relevant

Maybe you should find one then. I dont hate the team just hate losing EVERY YEAR

WHO SAID I WANTED MANZIEL??? I wanted Matthews or Watkins or possibly Mack
At least we will have a top 10 pick to debate about next season as well

Your logic is twisted.
You think Gabbert was a miss, but can bare the idea of starting Bortles?
