The sky is falling and everything is bad. You are supposed to be negative until proven otherwise, thats the best way to live life.
Well, I've been accused of being an apologist, a homer, and a litany of other tags. I guess the pitchfork and torch crowd will have to look elsewhere to find their kindred spirit.
Blake is a big dude, can see over the line nicely. He reminds me of Big Ben....He has a lot of work to do tho, he is raw..
Quote:We had a lot of Tom Coughlin's players in key positions still on the team. As they vanished the team's fortunes changed.
In our last playoff season, 2007, we still had about ten TC players and these were the core of our team.
In 1996, we were viewed as having one of the worst rosters in the league (a couple players were highly thought of in terms of having *potential* like Boselli and Brunell, but unproven). The roster has been so bereft of talent the last couple of years that a complete rebuild had to be undertaken and so now we're in a similar situation to '96. The roster *seems* weak because it mostly consists of young or otherwise unproven players. The potential becomes clear only after a few years has given the talent a chance to crystallize into winning seasons and hopefully, championships.
Better days are ahead. The arrow is pointing up.

Bingo. The arrow is definitely pointing up. We should start to see the team turning the corner this season.
Quote:This is why we draft in the top 10 every year!!! Enough is enough. When this pick is blasted by the national media we will say they are all wrong. When you are in a room with 10 people and you think nine of them are insane and you are the smart one, maybe you are the insane one. Welcome to a top 5 pick next year.
Some fans will NEVER be happy no matter what.
A Sad Situation...

mtown is already gasping for air. The "national media" he expected to blast the team based on this pick has been pretty fair in their evaluation of the selection. Nobody is blasting the pick. Nobody is laughing at the Jaguars.
Quote:Shack also added Pro Bowler Rashean Mathis, G Vince Manuwai, LB Darryl Smith, S Deon Grant, LB Mike Peterson, etc.
Don't act as though Shack had nothing to do with the team's ascent to the playoffs.
The term core players is more meaningful.

not just fans its media... if we took a D player, they would have raved about how we dont have an offense....if we took a wr, they would have ripped us for not having a qb... we took a qb, and we got ripped for not having weps around him....we only had one pick last night.. its not like we were gonna plug every hole with one pick..
no body hated on bortles in the media... they just kept goin on about how what he has nothing around him.

Garrard
McCown
Gabbert
That's a lot of pain to endure over the course of a decade.
It's a new day, and it remains to be seen what we've got in Bortles. Hopefully this front office does a better job of evaluating QB talent, and the coaching staff does a solid job of helping this pick to achieve his maximum potential.
Forgot Captain Batted Balls. But yea, completely agree.

We're still in the midst of that trauma, so I left him off for now.
I'm waiting on someone to post a link showing we're the laughingstock of the league. I haven't seen it yet.

CBS sports says we get an A+. I'm confused by your post. You contradict your opinion of the pick by saying one, that the pick will be blasted by media, but two, that we, (which I assume means the fans), will defend the pick as though we support it. So do you support the pick or not? Because it seems as though you do not, since you are assuming because of this pick, we will be picking in the top 5 next year. I'm gonna go ahead and say that this makes absolutely no sense.

2-14 4-12 wowo at this rate in 5 years we will be good

Its hard to laugh at a joke that you constantly hear. We are a laughing stock and now a sympathy case. Who will we pick at #4 next year
Quote:This is ridiculous. Nobody is saying this team is "so great." If you honestly think that, you're really supporting the view that the smarts are not strong in you.
You're one of those fans who needs big names to be wowed in order to think the team is doing enough to turn the corner. That's fine. You're going to be eternally disappointed, as Caldwell comes out of a philosophy that is more focused on building through the draft, and not through free agency.
You're whining the team didn't make any significant moves in free agency, and targeting Beadles as being overpaid. His contract was in line with what you'd expect to pay a guy of his caliber, and he came from the best offensive line in the entire league. Yeah, what a stupid move THAT was, right?
You conveniently ignore the good moves the team made to improve the defensive line, and you also ignore the fact that the contracts weren't exactly blockbusters there.
No, it's not about competing and being "nationally relevant" for you. It's about signing big names you recognize.
Do you know why the names are recognizable/ COuld it possibly be because they are good. Imagine that. The Jags actually stumble across some good players instead on Blake Borltes and the likes and them have a comedian laugh and insult anyone who wants better

The only laughing stock here is the thread starter.
Quote:2-14 4-12 wowo at this rate in 5 years we will be good
depends if its exponential or linear growth lol... if its linear, then yeah its gonna be a few years and will go 6-10 next year... if its exponential, we will go undefeated next year lol... stupid thread deserves more stupid responses.
Quote:Lesser men that get demolished in arguments always resort to getting mad. Mtownjag is very upset.
I'm upset every Sunday..Every draft day...every start of free agency becuase we continue to get sub par players
