Coughlin already has the job.

Quote:The way he comes off and the things I have read about his personality....i dont think he cares. He is going to go out there and do the job the best he can and if it helps him get the job then great, if it doesnt, he will put his efforts into something else and do the best he can.
he comes off as a stand up, no nonsense guy who is very football smart and doesnt buy into all the drama and the distractions.
100% Agree

Quote:I'm with Holster on this one.. that tweet makes no sense.
Moved on from Coughlin because they want an experienced head coach who's proven to be a winner and runs a tight ship?
That's literally the definition of Coughlin.
Perhaps some grammatical failings in that tweet causing 2 statements to run together?
perhaps. the only way it could make sense to me is if for some reason our front office knows something we dont and thinks that he was not running a very tight ship in NY.
this could help us narrow down candidates though. we can take anyone without HC experience off the list, and anyone who has failed miserably as head coach.
it kind of puts marrone in a gray area....he runs a tight ship, he has head coaching experience, but in the NFL he has only coached 2 seasons, his first season with the bills had a losing record, but it was his first season. Most of us know he went 9-7 in his last season there.
At Syracuse the numbers say he was a .500 coach, but he did really good things with that program compared to what they were prior to his arrival.
I personally think he is the best man for the job, but whoever was making that crazy long list might be able to narrow it down with this info.

He'll be a Jaguar again by the middle of next month. They'll make their usual rounds but it'll circle back to Coughlin. They still have to adhere to the Rooney rule. Which is great. I think David Shaw and Anthony Lynn should be given an interview this off-season as they're more than deserving. Especially Shaw. He's actually my favorite candidate.
But I have a feeling Khan is dead center on Coughlin being the next coach and if that means canning Caldwell after he's done pushing some more paperwork for him then so be it.

I would make a wager with you that Caldwell does not go anywhere this offseason/next season and Coughlin does not get control of personnel regardless of DC being here or not.

If Coughlin ends up being hired as Vice President of our football operations. He's out. It's possible that meeting Khan had with him yesterday prior to Caldwell talking to him could have been for that role instead of actually coaching again.
And if that's the case all bets are completely off. Coughlin could start making his own calls and decisions as to who will be our next general manager and head coach, etc.

alright i mean we can speculate all day, but i am saying that i think caldwell will be our gm through next season at least and am willing to make a wager toward that because of how confident i am.

So you aren't interested? You sound really sure of what you are saying, even though it is pretty baseless, Prognosticating Coughlin being part of the Jaguars again by halfway through next month as if it is fact.
Yet not interested in "putting your money where your mouth is." Interesting.

LOL. I'll bite. If I am wrong I'll rock a Dave Caldwell avatar of your choosing until the end of the 2017 NFL season or until he's fired. Nothing more, nothing less. Choose your own punishment if you lose. LOL.
