Quote:Marvin Lewis turned around a joke of a Bengals organization that is constantly competing most of the time. Obviously you want to win the superbowl or see more postseason success but he definitely was a great hire for that team.

You and i have as many playoff wins as Marvin Lewis has

No it's not.

We haven't been to the playoffs in 10 years...so I could give two [BLEEP] less if he hasn't personally won a game. I'll happily get a coach that can get us there and hope that the talent here doesn't fold in playoff games like theirs.

Let's just keep getting Gus Bradleys and Mike Mularkey's who lead us to 5 wins or below. I agree.

Of course it is. Why wouldn't it be?

Because Nfl.com is just a bunch of reporters just like Espn.com

You are overly concerned with this whole official thing. I don't think it means what you think it means.

You send me a message and delete it before I can reply, why?

The more I think about Coughlin the more I'm okay with him being our next HC and less excited I am about him in a different role.

Quinn is in just his 2nd year, so yeah he hasn't won much. Looking like they have a good shot of entering the postseason though.

It honestly doesn't matter THAT much which side of the ball we go for. Just give me a good coach that can get us out of this decade-long rut.

Competing in arguably the hardest division in football too.

My bad, didn't know your goal was to be above average.

Is that what I said? No. I said get us a coach that can get us there and hope our talent doesnt fold in the playoffs.

Dalton is pretty well known for his playoff problems. You can only blame the HC so much.

But yeah, thats not my goal but thatd sure as hell beat what weve done since Coughlin was here basically.
Quote:This is nothing but a rumor probably used as leverage to get more teeth to the Jaguars head coach vacancy. The Bills at 7-7, and in the playoff hunt are not calling for their coach to be fired . Cant even talk to coaches yet. Jaguars have confirmed interest in Coughlin and whether you like the move or not, Tom Coughlin will a front runner, if hes not leading the pack to coach the Jaguars next season.

Bruce Irving 2.0

His lack of playoff victories predates Dalton.

What...2-3 appearences?

In his eight seasons in Cincinnati before Dalton, Lewis was 0-2 in the playoffs.

Yeah, exactly.

Not going to gripe about a HC that can get there, especially with all the HCs who generally dont get their superbowl until theor 2nd opp. If he can get teams there, Im going to take that. Watching the Bengals while Dalton has been there in the playoffs is kind of obvious why they havent advanced. Like Dalton but hes been poor each year in the playoffs.
I wonder how much credit should go to Lewis' coordinators. Mike Zimmer, Hue Jackson, Jay Gruden, and Leslie Frazier is about as good as it gets. They all finally get the promotions they deserves and Cincy is struggling big time this year.

If he's good at picking coordinators, that's something in his favor I would say.

At this point, I don't care if he can't seem to win in the playoffs.   His teams play good football.   His teams look like a quality NFL football team.   That would be such a huge step up for us.

Yup.

Whoops.
Honestly, I'd love to have Coughlin reunited w/our organization. Having him as a HC would be a short term fix as we need a long term fix at that position. How many years could he attribute to the job and how well could it be done giving the fact that we all decline in our golden years? As it's been previously stated, I do admire the thought of him being HC and grooming youth for the position. That'll be the best scenario that we could have. Also the statements of Coughlin assisting Caldwell on selecting talent is not going to happen. Caldwell does a good job on his own and we don't need another evaluator to hinder the process. One GM, One Voice. The ultimate would be to hire a young HC and hire Coughlin as a mentor that'll oversee the daily football operations/training/practices.

NH3...
