He 100% doesn’t want to play here, he already stated it’s beyond money. He knows he is going to get paid regardless. Starting next week if he doesn’t play he doesn’t get paid. When the offseason comes you try to get a huge return, if not wait till the next one and don’t pay him for an entire season. Either way he ain’t going no where.
He. Doesn't. Want. To. Be. A. Jag.
Get what you can for a reasonable return, use the money elsewhere (not Yan, he's not elite). The Jags have tried to build a top tier defense and it worked, sporadically, and they don't have not much to show for it. Spend the return picks on o-line and coverage help, then roll with a balanced team.

This.. our defense without Ramsey is still decent enough.
We need offensive linemen. Look at the Chiefs.. look at the pats. You don’t need shut down corners to win the Super Bowl. You just need to out score the other team.
I thought Herndon did fine tonight.

He'll play here or nowhere. If he wont play he wont accrue a season towards free agency.
If he's going to be inactive keep him off the sideline, total distraction

I thought Herndon got roasted for the most part, aside from the one PBU he had.

Idk man. The Patriots defense has been pretty damn good so far. They play in a soft division but man for man their defense is good. But Buffalo is no slouch. Their defense worked their [BLEEP] off today for an offense that clearly left their [BLEEP] at home.
If the Chiefs and Patriots meet in the AFCC game it'll be the defense of the Patriots that probably win it for them.

This. He has no leverage anymore as far as being traded. Now, if he truly would stay for a large contract then yes, todays performance by Herndon would give him that.
But as far as being traded; he’s screwed. If he gets petulant and tries excuses or holds out, he loses the year of accrual.
It’s now a situation of heads, Jags win, tails, Ramsey loses.

Stephon Gilmore has been locking down WRs for the Pats for the past 2+ years now and last I checked, they've been to back to back Super Bowls. Famously, Gilmore making the game winning play against us to seal them the win in the 2017 AFC Champ game. Among plenty of others.
Herndon was terrible today.... Flacco looked like Brady out there for most of the game. Thankfully our Offense was able to control the ball and keep their Offense off the field. Herndon got straight up abused today by a mediocre receiving corps and a bad QB.

I agree 100% on all points E1. Aside from 1 play with a pass break up, Herndon was bullied on. And yeah, apparently people forget the Pats have Gilmore on their team. I guess thats what happens when your #1 CB shuts down one side of the field and doesn't get any balls thrown his way.
Lmao someone drank too much today.

Did you even watch the game??? He was abused horribly... this game would have been won much more easily with Ramsey...

That could also be part of his strategy to optimize his negotiation position. Maybe. Perhaps.
If so, it may not prove to be especially brilliant. As GM, how motivated are you to pay all the money to a guy who, you believe, wants to be gone anyway, especially when you know you'll always be dealing with a prima donna?

We won the game.. period.
Herndon will get better. He will. He had a few great plays, this being one of them:

I think he did FINE.
My final point, Herndon played better than Ramsey today. Ramsey couldn’t even get his pads on. Apparently his back is shot.

In their Super Bowl wins, the Patriots have had Ty Law, Aqib Talib, Darelle Revis and Steohon Gilmore at CB. While it may be true you don't necessarily need a shut down CB to win it all, it certainly helps, and the Patriots are the last team you should use to prove your point.
Herndon was beaten for two TDs.

Or you look at Minshew and wonder what he could do with that same money thrown at his offensive line...

My point isn’t that you don’t need a good defense, my point was to not put all of our focus on one guy on defense.
Our defense was better than the Pats defense in 2017.Who won the AFC and why?
We FINALLY have a good QB and quite frankly, I didn’t see the defense holding us back today, I saw the offensive line. Yes, I would have liked to see the defense as a whole play better, but watching Minshew have to pull Michael Jackson dance moves to get passes off was painful.
If this game didn't show the importance of him I don't know what would. Underlooked is the play of Bouye he is a number 1 corner when healthy.
Oh we need him. Only reason we won is because Flacco started missing easy throws. Herndon got abused
I disagree.. we won today because of our offense.
Look at last year.. Ramsey was good last year no? Why did we lose so much last year?
I like Ramsey..I do... but he doesn’t want to be here.
This game if anything showed me our defense is good enough if our offense rocks out. Could you imagine Minshew behind a better line? A Ramsey trade could give us that. Just saying.
