I'll see your Peterson and raise it to Carson Wentz. Let's be serious here, the Eagles will be highly motivated to obtain Ramsay- especially after their added problems in the secondary. The Jaguars may not have a better opportunity to make this trade than they do now with the Eagles. So, what is the best they can ask for without getting laughed at?

1. Next year's 1st rounder - this is a no-brainer.

2. A quality starter at a position of need: Goedert perfectly fits the bill. With he and Oliver, they are set at tight end for a long time. The Eagles would hate to part with him, but at least they still have Ertz. Not getting Goedert is a deal-breaker for me. 

3. Additional draft picks from the Eagles (I'd ask for a 2021 1st rounder but settle for a 2nd rounder that year)  and a 3rd rounder 1n 2020. That would allow the Jaguars to accumulate enough talent in the next few seasons to compensate for the loss of the league's best cornerback. The Eagles wouldn't be crazy about this, but I believe they'd reluctantly agree since corners like Ramsay don't come along very often. 

Caldwell (or the new G.M.) would then use next season's first rounders on a cornerback and either offensive lineman or stud linebacker. They could then go best available player with their 2nd rounder and two 3rd rounders in the 2020 draft and still have an extra 2nd rounder in 2021. 

New Jags in this scenerio:

Dallas Goedert

Kristian Fulton- Lockdown corner to replace Ramsay

Curtis Weaver- explosive linebacker (Weaver, Jack and Williams not a bad trio).

Calvin Throckmorton- versatile, intelligent offensive lineman in the 2nd round

Two 3rd rounders could be anyone of safety, running back, or defensive tackle. 

Re-sign Yannick with the money you save on Ramsay and try to re-do contracts of Campbell and Dareus. 

Cut Norwell to save more money.


That's it- just get it done!

I thought about mentioning Fletcher Cox. But it would be a bad move overall. You don't want to part ways with a guy that's pretty much been one of the top two - three interior pass rushers in the NFL now for awhile. He's right up there with guys like Aaron Donald and Geno Atkins. 

My biggest thing is that if they're going to part ways with Ramsey. They really need to add onto the offense then to help Minshew out as quickly as possible. Having a TE and RB like Ertz and Howard could be just enough to give this offense a 7.0+ PPG average swing. I still think the front four is more than capable of backing up the secondary. 

And I think Bouye could be a good enough CB1 with some of these younger guys working in behind him. That's where Todd Wash starts to truly cut his teeth and earn his paycheck then as far as I am concerned. If they ship Ramsey off mid season and Wash somehow keeps this defensive unit running at a top 5 - 10 level and they somehow sneak into the play-off's with a surprising rookie at QB?

Wash is a front runner going into 2020 if a head coaching job opens up.

But you werent already being greedy?  Everything you said for the Eagles to give us was comical

I think that’s a fair deal from eagles.

Either way I hold off until we get something big in return. We got the STACHE, I could care less if Ramsey decides to show up or not. The team will move on.

I think Goedert, next years first, and a mid round pick is a realistic scenario depending how bad they want Ramsey and if we like Goedert

The 2020 draft has loads of CB talent in the 1st and possibly 2nd round.

Perfect realistic trade:

2020 1st
2020 2nd or 2021 1st

Would ask for Goedert with the picks but if they refuse, so be it.  Take the picks and the cap room for a guy who doesn't want to be here, has played on an elite level for one of three seasons, and is a ticking time bomb.

I don't think it's being greedy. I would expect a counter offer. Of course the odds of them shipping off Ertz and Howard plus picks for Ramsey is a high ball offer.

They have to set the table here though. Clearly teams see value in Ramsey. As they draw this out towards the deadline you'll see teams getting more hungry for that Superbowl.

The Eagles probably have more of a need to prove it with Wentz in the line up. They have already done it once. I dont think its too crazy at all that they shell out more in this deal.

Then we're two or three more weeks in and they're narrowingly winning games like last night due to the secondary getting roasted.

At that point they decide whether or not it's worth the trade. It's no different than trying to sell / buy a car or house. You go in overselling it, but you expect them to slightly undersell it. Which is where you wanted them to be all along.

But if you go in too low you'll never know exactly what they were willing to part ways with for that 2nd shot at a Superbowl trip.

Agreed.  Ramsey is a baby who can cover WRs.  I'd rather have 53 men than 52 men + 1 baby.

That's not going to happen. Here's what I would do with the Eagles. I want the following on the table, they either take it or leave it:

2020's 1st & 3rd RD picks
2021's 1st, 2nd & 5th RD picks
Jordan Howard at RB
Zach Ertz at TE

They're desperate for a Superbowl win and feel the weakest link is CB. They pay a premium for it.

Again, they want a premium player? They need to pay a premium price for it. They're getting a premier player at the CB position at a young age that would lock down any team's No. 1 receiver on a man-to-man basis in a Jim Schwartz style defense. He literally takes away one side of the entire football field if he's on his A game. Which 9 times out of 10 he is.

They may NOT want to part ways with BOTH players but they certainly wouldn't mind forking over at least one of them given that they're pretty well off on the depth chart. Draft wise they're giving up at the minimum mid to late 1st & 2nd RD picks in next year's draft and a 2nd and 3rd RD pick in 2021's draft. 

Small price to pay IMHO for a guaranteed shutdown CB for late picks anyways where they're glaringly hurting for talent and consistency.

You're all over the place. Initially you said this was a take it or leave it offer and then spent the next few posts defending your package by switching picks around and then saying this would only be your starting point in a negotiation. Which is it?

No idea if JR is prepared to sit out games and lose money, but that's where we're at now...

I think when it comes down to it Ramsey would be more worried about the accrued year than the salary. He said in a recent interview that he would get paid big time at some point which I'm sure he will be. Not sure how it would work if a player decides to feign an injury or something, I guess the team would have to try to prove he was tanking.

If he is there, kudos to the guy! I respect his commitment to the team. We could use him. Courtland Sutton is the #1 receiver for the Broncos, but Emmanuel Sanders still has a lot of speed and can make some long catches. I feel much more comfortable with Ramsey and Bouye defending them than I do Bouye and Herndon.

I was ready for Herndon vs what should be one of the weaker offenses in the next month or so.

Would have been the first time we seen AJ Bouye as the #1 CB as well. Hes never had to be that guy here, since Jalen has never missed a game.

Big props to Jalen if he really does play Sunday. I had written him off completely for playing this week and would have guessed he was less than 50/50 to play the next week or two also.
